I was out there last weekend on Sat, nobody else there. I didnt bring the DV because the weather was supposed to turn bad quickly, got a couple tail touches with the Do, finally I can hover leaning into the wind, its really not that difficult, certainly not harder than TR'ing, just a different way of "balancing" it. I never stuck with that method, tried once or twice but went back to straight up hovers too soon. Its essential on those windy days if you want to stay put.

I think my time this weekend will be better spent finishing my 80" profile...
Kevin and Bruce might try Saturday.

Have fun!

I have to fly, can always build on week nights & the bad weather days. I'm wondering if I should bring the DV, I know cold can affect Integrated circuits, the 2.4Ghz FASST must be very densely populated chips, which could make them more likely to fail in cold weather, not sure if its a fact though, just the way it is with computer circuits. I know last week my battery time went down too.

Didnt fly the DV this weekend although It was a mistake not bringing it, Sat was pretty nice, specially later on when the winds completely calmed down & the sun was out. It felt like over 40 even though it was only 36. In any case, the Fusion is about done, TOC Yak looks awesome, freakin piece of art!!! I will be Yakkin-off soon!!!!

No DV for me for a while, my Futaba 7C is one of the possible bad radios, could CRASH if I use it with another 7C,6EX or TM-7 in use. I was lucky the first 16 flights, no one else had any of those on. I dont know how this "common code" could get into several different components, you would think they would be extra careful each radio has a unique code.

Check this link -> European Site

Here's the gyst of the thread

quote:

Get a NIB Rx which has never been linked with a TX. This means its set to accept TX's with the code 000000.

Switch on your TX and see if it works with it. If so, then youve got a problem. If it doesnt respond, then no problem, go fly.

Thats not good enough for me, what if Ron turns on one of his FASST radios at home or near by the field, that could do it. Or Lenny(if he has FAST)or anyone for that matter thats lives or flys near the field. The check at the field is all well and good IF none of the above can happen. What happened is this "common code of 0000000" is in a bunch of radios, any 2 on at once, its into the ground. I called one of the closest hobby shops (for now at least) that is listed by Futaba to have the test equipment available. Its Action Hobby, 1236 E. Lincoln Hwy., Langhorn, PA. Phone # 215 757 9750. They have the test equipment, but not set up yet, they will do it today & I will call them tomarrow & see if they are ready. All they can do is see if the bad code is in the radio or if its good, thay cant fix it. Thats the way I understand it for now, they can tell me I'm good to fly, or I have to send it back to Futaba. As a club, we should at least monitor all Futaba FASST radios at the field & any units within the "bad" SN# range should be impounded until the check is done with all other FASST systems there. Even that might not prevent an accident due to the "unknown" radios in the area.

I got my Futaba FASST 7C checked out by a hobby shop in Langhorn,PA, its good to go. So I took the DV out for further break-in & evaluation. The last changes I made seem to make the low end richer(routed the carb vent hole into the fuse & went from 32:1 to 64:1) After leaning it several times, I think I have it about right, the transition after the first few clicks is good & clean. I know the DV is a dead horse(at least in U.S.) but I go home with a smile everytime I take it out, I also took a Velox 68", but I didnt even fly it, just having too much fun with the DV. After 17-18 flights, I brought it DOD first time, I was a little nervous about it, new plane & all that, but the DV doesnt give you much trouble, requires way less correction then anything else I've flown. It stays pretty much locked in harriers, you can turn it around in a harrier, the rudder has plenty of HA authority & it doesnt get out of HA during the turn-very cool stuff. It will TR like hell sometimes, if I use rudder & elevator during the roll, it makes it TR faster. It is fairly easy to stop the TR too, the ailerons work well in full stall. If Chip Hyde ever makes a comeback here, all he has to do is start up DV production, & nothing else, he should sell them all! 50cc 3-D doesnt get any better than this!!!
