I just got another N.I.B. DV, same red/white/blue scheme as my other. This also came with N.I.B DA50/header/cannister. I was at another club for a fly-in and noticed a poster with DV for sale. I think this DA will have to be mounted totally inverted for the canister to fit in the tunnel. Any one use this set-up?? I'm interest in how it affects mid-range & transition, does it clean it up a bit & have more power?

Master, the da50 is mounted the same way (seven o'clock position) as when using the stock da pitts just like you have yours now. that is how i have seen it done with the Chip Hyde header and canister.that way you can hide the header in the cowl.
i have never used a canister, just a tuned pipe.but from what i hear the power is about the same as when using the da pitts, but just quieter.
you just couldn't pass on a NIB DV could you,and i couldn't either.

Not when I was used to high pilot work load to do a little 3-D, the DV makes it a joy. I didnt even notice what brand the can is, whether its a "tuned cannister" or not. It all came from Chief, so its probably a "combo", meant for the DV. The same guy had a completely built Giant U-Can-Do/Evo 35/tuned pipe,5955's all around, never even started or taken to the field. Again, after flying the DV, why buy a Do and play around with mixing, dont need it now! The DV "can do"!!!

Almost forgot about the header, I was told that it will fit mounting the engine completely inverted, maybe the header will stick out some but it looks like it will still align with the can & tunnel. If thats all that hangs out, it will look a little cleaner than the 7 oclock mount.

I tried Vess 22B prop, a huge difference compared to "standard" 23X8. I was getting 7100, now 7600-7700 and the low end had to be leaned quite a bit due to less load. One major difference is in hovers, the Vess will let the plane fall suddenly with just a click or 2 less throttle, have to really watch the ground carefully, I think I might need a 23B or 22C?(DA50)

The cann is MTW TD 75 K, not sure its worth the weight penalty, it would look nicer up front if the engine could be mounted totally inverted. There's no noise regulations where I fly, so I might use the stock muffler. I couldnt find much info on the cannister other than theres little performance change and it only helps with low RPM noise, still rips at full throttle. Anyone use one of these?

For all those who still fly the Double Vision: the Cabane wooden rails that anchor the cabanes can come loose over time. Its the hardwood planks under the balsa sheeted fuse top . They fit into slotted formers and glue is the only thing holding them in place, if the glue fails, it can pull them right out of the fuse. I made up former doublers to double the gluing area, hope this holds. It took a year a flying for this to fail.
