Agree with you Josh. The Inspire-90 is quite a different plane then the Inspire-60. It is much closer to the Infinity they produced before. I guess Fliton ran out of inspiration on names... . Luckily they seem to have plenty of inspiration for the planes! I really like the fact they now produced a what seems to be a real pattern plane (Iso another 3D).

Anyway I like the looks of it and I am awaiting the first flight reports.

I'll try to get it done this Sunday and get a flight report out by mid next week. With some luck, I might even be able to get a video out as well.

Speaking of video, I was thinking about shooting a sportsman sequence. When can I find it? Please keep in mind that I'm more of a freestyle/3D kind of a guy, so my lines are ok, but not perfect .

Description of new maneuvers

Two Point Roll Model performs one-half (½) roll to level, inverted flight, pauses, then performs another one-half (½) roll in the same direction to level, upright flight. Center of maneuver is middle of inverted hesitation. Length of inverted hesitation is not a reason for downgrade as long as it exists. Downgrades:

1. Model does not hesitate at inverted.
2. Roll rate not constant.
3. Over or under rotation of rolls, One Point per 15 Degree Rule.
4. Changes in altitude.
5. Changes in heading
6. Roll rates not constant.

Cobra Without Rolls Model pulls to a 45°climb, pauses, pushes to a 45° dive, pauses, then pulls to recover in level flight at the same altitude as entry. Center of maneuver is middle of 90° push. Downgrades:

1. Climb and dive not 45°
2. Loop segments not round with same size and radius
3. Changes in heading
4. Exit not same altitude and heading as entry

Double Immelmann without Rolls Model pulls through one-half loop to level, inverted flight, hesitates, then pulls through a second one-half loop to level, upright flight at the same altitude as entry. The horizontal leg should be equal to the diameter of the half loops. Downgrades:

1. Half loops not round with same size and radius
2. Changes in heading
3. Exit not same altitude and heading as entry

I got this from our NSRCA website and is open to non members also under "schedules"

Good luck with the build!

John

How about posting your power setup? Motor, ESC, batt, prop?

Thanks,

Jack

Bonedoc,

I would want to see how you do it with a YS110S/Hatori muffler combo.... Mine still sit in the box, contemplating whether to go with the nitro (Which is more work) or electric option....

Black,

If you would like to send me a YS110 with Hatori, I'd be more than happy to go glow with mine . As is such , I don't have a nitro in this size range.

Jim,
I'm going with my original setup, sans AXI.
Hyperion 4025/16
CC Ph 80 with UBEC
FP 6S 4900 or 5000
APC 15or 16x10

John,

Thanks for the sequence... man I'm going to have to practice if I were to pull a halfway decent effort at this . Do you want to fly it instead and I'll film ???

Josh,

Your flight report will be very important to me, I was thinking 8S minimum for this plane so if it flies well with 6S, I'll be pleasantly surprised (since I have over $3K in 6S EVO packs and if your build goes well you might "force" me to get one as well). From what I can see from Fliton's website and Esprit Models (for some reason Fliton doesn't have the dry weight of the Inspire 90 but ZB does), the weight should end up 22 ounces heavier than the Inspire 60 (since you are using pretty much the same components as you would for the Inspire 60 and that's the difference in their dry weights). based on that alone I would think you'd want more kick but I'm willing to wait and see how it goes...

Thanks for the power info,

Jack

Josh, you're very welcome. After watching your videos of the AJ Extra, you're not going to have any problem with the 90. I think I can take alot of pointers from you when it comes to 3D stuff. I fly an Electric Genesis (Chip's actual old one) and fly in the intermediate class. Possibly have to move up to advanced after this year's season. We'll see...

Is this your first "larger" pattern plane? Plan on being amazed! It will be smooth and graceful like a ballet... BTW, we're having a pattern meet here in Lubbock in August and one in Dallas in Sept if you get to liking your plane alot .

John

You're too kind John. The build is going slow, but well so far. I think I'm going to replace the wheels and hardware to my liking though.

FWIW, I'm not a big fan of the dowel method, but in this case, I think it works well. The dowel itself is a stiffer and harder wood. It's also bigger, and to top it off, the control surfaces are far smaller. So I don't think it should pose a problem at all.

Not many chances to read "stiffer and harder wood" in these forums :-o

BTW Josh, that build you did before going back to work while the Wifey was out of town absolutely amazed me! I read it from start to finish, awesome!

Well I think this plane is very simular to the GP Venus II.
I am not sure why they just didn't make the jump to the full 2-meter size and try to keep it made out of the same materials and keep the price down..?
It looks like most Good ARF's out there right now, with all the new lightening tech's (pickup sticks and tooth pic's) Not to say this is bad, as it keeps the weight down... Like my Funtana 100X...

I Guess I am just looking for a affordable well built 2-meter pattern plane...

I am aware of the Ultra-Rc Evolution, but it has some balsa direction issues in the wing, and I hate China Cote... This has Ultracote covering at least!

I guess the prices are about 700$ for a true pattern plane, or I could go with the QQ new 73 inch yak.?
