Sounds like there is a lot of controversy over this plane being designed for electric and to light for glow so I think I'll wait til some flight reports come in and see how things go.

What do you mean by "controversy"? Albeit there are less than 100 planes right now in the country, but I think that should change with the next shipment.

Please refer back to post #74-79 for pics of the plane in the bone. Though I don't have personal experience with glow on this plane, from evaluating the engineering, you can tell that it will hold up to the glow vibration, IMHO. Now if someone has a glow engine to lend/give to me, I'd be happy to make the transition .. yuk .

BoneDoc,

What I was referring to was that I have read about the plane being checked out at the LHS by some and that it seemed to be built light for electric and not glow, and the fact that almost everyone is talking about using electric for power. On Fliton's website, the spec's for the plane do not include any glow size. I'd like to hear from someone that is flying this plane with a glow engine. I think the color scheme looks really good and I'd like to buy the plane but I want to hear the pro's and con's from some people that are flying it on glow.

let's get this thread back up high!

Any comments on this plane. The last post is from September, and I am really curious on experiences. In the mean time, is there anybody that flew it on glow 4 stroke?

I am putting one together for my Dad to fly this year in pattern. The plane went together great and should have it in the air next week. He went with the e-flight 110 and HV 85 controller with FlightPower batteries. I will let you know how it goes.

Todd I'd love to know your opinion soon. I know your and ACTUAL seasoned competitor as am I and I'm thinking about the Inspire 90 for this season in Advanced. I'm on a real budget these days so a full blown glass kit isn't in the cards. I've flown 3 Great Planes Venus II's (Electric and Glow) and even though I think of as a POS ARF they flew AMAZEINGLY well. I'm really wanting to avoid a GP ARF and am leaning to the Fliton but haven't flown one yet. I'm curious if it holds a line well and dosn't get blown around on the base line. The Venus tracked well and I felt no real disadvantage at the Tangerine contest this Dec. If the fliton flies 90% of a 2M I'm sold. I'll be on a 10s setup, motor and ESC as yet unknown.

rcinstructor,
No problem I will let you know how it does. Dad will also be flying the Inspire in Advanced, so I will see how he does with the plane.
Like I said I should have it done by early next week. I have 2 CA Model Pass-Ports on the way for myself, so I need to get this one done.

Well, well, look what the cat dragged in!

Before you commit to the Fliton 90, you may also want to consider the Sebart Angel S EVO, some of the folks in europe are calling this "the best kept secret in pattern planes for under $300". Something delayed them coming into the US until this past week, mine should be here within a day or two and at the field by next weekend...

I am in the process of putting my I90 togeather and going with the neu 1800 watt set up after to talking with neu both set ups are very powerful I will be doing pattern only with mine so good throttle managment with the 1800 watt setup will be plenty sufficiant according to neu.
Thanks for the great thread BoneDoc and very nice videos

Just test flew the inspire 90 today and the plane flies very well. We put 3 flights on it and the inspire
does not seem to have any problems. The set up we have is an E-flight 110 with an apc 19x10E,castle creation HV 85 controller and flightpower 3700 10S. The inspire needs very little mix on the rudder to elevator (2%) other than that great plane.

Hi Todd,

I am just getting down to building one of these for a friend of mine. He is giving me one of these to build his. He is going electric and I am going to try glow(not sure what engine. I did this same thing for him on the Inspire 60. His had and AXI and mine had an OS 61. I really liked the way the Inspire 60 flew it has to be one of my favorite 60 size airplanes to date. Till I got t-boned by a SIG 4-Star.

The Fliton kit builds easily and the only short coming I had was the landing gear delaminated near the bend at he fuse. I solved this by soaking it with thin c/a and put a single layer of c.fiber on the top and bottom about an inch in both directions from the bend at the top. It was rock solid after that. The dowel is actualy stronger then what most of you think. The fit of everything is very good. I made a spring loaded hatch release rather then bolting the canopy on. Included here are a few photos of what I did on the Inspire 60 that I will include in the 90 build. I put the engine in at the 7 o'clock position and it hid the muffler down through the tunnell underneath. The 2-56 pushrods that the 60 included are not strong enough so I put c.fiber rod over them and then they where fine. Not sure how its done on the 90... so.

This is a light airplane is designed to be flown... not crashed. Light it is and it is reflected in the way they fly. I flew the liven snot out of my 60 and never had as much as a twinkle of failure in any area of the structure. It snaps VERY well and stops quickly. Flies very well at slow speed and was a real treat in the landings.

Smooth FLying...

Wayne Galligan
