Well, I've got to say I'm a little disappointed already. After only 6 flights the landing gear is delaminating. I'll admit I'm no professional flier, but I didn't bounce any of these landings. But our grass field isn't the smoothest by any stretch of the imagination either.

I believe the gear is fiberglass not carbon fiber. Can't tell for sure. Has anybody heard of replacement gear for this plane?

On the plus side, it does fly very well with the OS120AX. Unlimited vertical with an APC 16 x 8 and I'm still running rich. And I am amazed at how QUIET the 120 is with the stock "Power Box" muffler. OS did their homework on that. It is a little portly, but you'll have NO problems with noise.

Kerrydel, don't worry about the landing gear. I have also the Inspire-60 and still have the original LG after>100 flights. It cracked at about the 3rd flight already, just like you.

What I did do was put a little thin CA in the cracks. Holds fine.

Glad to hear you are happy. I will be in the process of putting together mine in the next period with a Saito 125. If you have after some more flights advice on the frame, let us know.

thanks, volkert

Well, I need to find some new landing gear because I just don't have any ground clearance with a 16 X 8 prop. I've put bigger wheels on it, and modified the tail wheel as much as I could, but it's still a lawn mower.

Hi, maybe a silly question, but here it goes.

Will the inspire work out ok with a .91 os with perry pump?

Jose - Spain.

Jose, I think the plane will fly brillantly! I flew the Inspire predessor (Infinity) with a OS-91FX with pipe and perry. It was a great and very smooth flying plane.

ALL: I am now building the Inspire-90 with a Saito-125 and sofar I am really impressed by the kit! When fitting the stabilizer it was aligned perfectly immediately. The kit is a really good quality build and I am looking forward to flying it.

Sofar I am surprised by the low pick up of this plane. Maybe people are put off by the Fliton reputation of electric airplanes but I rather have a great flying plane which I replace after two years than a good flying plane which should last 5 years but in practice never will. Just my 2 cents.....!

QUESTION: I will fly the Inspire-90 with a Saito-125. I don't like the dowel solution on the elevator halves, therefor I first wanted to put two small servo's in the stabilizer (Futaba 9650s or equivalent JR). Unfortunately, they don't seem to be available now.

Now I decided to use pull-pull with a servo below the cockpit.

Kerrydel, how did you come out with the Center of Gravity? I am afraid I will have trouble with too much weight forward

Sorry I haven't been back here. I located a 2000 mAh battery roughly mid way back in the fuselage. It was a pain (literally) getting it back there without putting any holes in the fuse, but it balanced with no extra weight.

So, today flew the Inspire-90 the first time. This plane is very good! Also, it presents itself well in flight, which is important when you fly contest. I really think this must be one of the best flying 90-size pattern planes around. I have flew a few sofar, but this is really good!

kerrydel,

I'm interested in the OS 120AX setup. A while back I was going to put one of these together with a Saito 125 but got side tracked on something else. I have an OS 120AX and some Hitec 5645MG servos I could use. I'm currently running two of the OS 120AX engines with an APC 17X6 prop. How much ground clearance do you have with the 16X8 prop ? Do you know what your weight was with this setup ? How is the air frame holding up with a nitro engine up front ? I have had custom CF gear made by Ken McCaughin out of Hoosick Falls, NY and he does a bag up job for a reasonable price. His email is hobbyncrafts@yahoo.com.

Kerry,

You can purchase landing gear for the I-90 at TNT - http://www.tntlandinggear.com/store/shop/Product_List_Gear.htm Also, a good build thread from Ed Lyerly on RCGroups... He's using the new gear. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=708283&highlight=tnt

got my first 15 flights sofar. Very convincing plane! Landing gear is holding up well. I actually brought some CA to the field so I could glue it in between flights. I glued it twice sofar, and now the cracking has stopped. Landings have been very smooth though lately.

Only complaint I could have is that the plane sits almost horizontal with the high tailwheel and the low main gear. Since I fly it off grasland I almost have to jank her vertical into the air to make sure she clears the corn which is next to the field.

Zippi, I am flying the Inspire with a Saito 125 with a APC 14x10. If you want to fly pattern, I think you go with a 14x12 on your 120AX. You will have a very straight flying plane with that combo. Go for speed!

This is how my Inspire-90 looks now; I was not able to get off the field (grass). I need more '"rotation"; it is simply sitting too low with the front gear
