I am sorry but WRONG.
There is a negative ONLY and at the other end of the plug is a positive ONLY. all the wires in between are both positive AND negative.
ie... The wire next to the negative wire is positive for that 1st cell AND negative for the 2nd cell. The next wire is positive for the second cell AND negative for the third cell.
So it does matter what order the wires are located.

indeed, further research tells me that i need to invert ALL 4 leads to make it not go nuclear... i basically have to pull the connecter and flip it over...

Thats odd. My batteries have four wires...one negative and three positive on the charging plug.

I guess I should have been more specific. I have the align charger. When I rebuilt my lipo battery I had three positive leads that I soldered to each individual cell. The cells attached to each other via the metal tabs built into each battery cell. A single negative wire is connected to the final cell.

So it is possible to check the charge of each cell with a volt meter from the charger plug or cumulatively from the main positive and negative wires that connect to the ESC.

Hopefully this is more clear.

The question I should have asked was what type of battery/connector do you have? Charger?

I really shouldn't have assumed, thanks missilman for the wake up call.

well, i removed the connector and reversed all leads... its been charging for bit now and seems ok, we'll see once its done
ive been told by my LHS that its a good idea to charge it, then run it down, and charge it again a few times to 'break it in'...
agree? disagree?

lipos do seem to run better after a few charges. But don't waste the charges...use em' on your heli. You'll be after more batteries soon...I have 5 and could use 5 more for my SE more. 5 Give me almost a solid hour of flying...if i can keep it in the air that long..lol

well, i got it all dialed in.
got it off the ground a few inches a few times, starting the process of trimming.
then i bumped the rudder a bit to straighten it out, the throttle went up a couple of 'clicks' and it popped up.
i panicked, tried to bring it down.
it started a slight roll on the way down, hit the ground and grenaded.
im not sure when ill be able to afford to replace everything that broke, so it was fun, i appreciate all the tips and help.
