Status: offline 		They are both the most dated designs. Look at the s versions. They only cost slightly more.

Status: offline 		I just picked up the X combo package from Heliproz they told me when I crash to just replace the X with XL parts, no need to pay up front. I am just a beginner so I figured no need for the latest and greatest.

thanks for the input, i too am a beginner, and am looking at the 'X' for the same reasons. i looked at the SA, but i want to build it, so i get to know it inside and out.

Status: offline 		did you get the "T-Rex 450X Kit Complete Combo. Motor,ESC,Radio Battery,Gyro" combo?
i was looking at that, and the price seemed too good to be true. if thats the one, did it come with everything needed to fly?

Status: offline 		Don't quote me on this but as far as I know the difference between X and XL is mainly the XL has a longer tail boom and support so you can use the longer sport blades. I may be totally wrong but that is the way I heard it.
Mine is an XL and a great flyer with stock parts, even better now with upgrades.

also, someone check this link out and tell me what im missing:

Status: offline 		The X is the old TREX its the first that came out.. its more of a size 400 same with the ARKX400 or the MX 400.. the XL is the larger one size 450. this has 2 versions the CDE and the HDE. this depends on you preference it you would want a mechanical mix heli or a CCPM one. then came the SE which is the higher pro versions in CF frame direct CCPM and metal head and tail. The S and SA came out last year were its mostly like the SE but degraded to get aluminum frame and plastic parts.. more likely a cheaper version of the SE but with the same design. The 450SEV2 the latest one which it the modified SE with better head, tail and gear design similar to the 600

Status: offline 		thats some good info, thanks! i am a bit of a beginner, lots of time on a sim and can do everything the little CX i have will let me, and its time to move on.
so, would you recommend the X or XL? or should i be looking at the 'S' models?

Status: offline 		Thats the kit I purchased. I will have it on thursday. From what I understand there are a few version of the X and this is the newer version... I dont know how true that is though.

Status: offline 		The kit is a decent value... Ive been looking into buying a t-rex for quite a while now, but was looking at the 450SE and maybe spending $800-900.
The 450X is an older version, like said, and so is the DX6, which was replaced by the new DX7. The servos and gyro are not top of the line either. This is why its not sooo expensive.
Looks like it has everything included though, and it should work pretty darn well.

i can only afford to buy one good helicopter... so im going with the trex, and i want one i can build, so im staying away from the SA...
the SE seems to have lots of expensive shiny stuff that i dont really need... so the X or XL is what is attracting me
