OK, yesterday and today was the Savy's turn(though I also ran the LST2, but didn't do much but sort the idle out.. Still ripping..), and I have to say, it was jumping great.. I have admit, much of my ****ing about the Sav's bad jumping thus far had more to do with the ramp being too small, and my poor jumping skills. After (re-) learning to let off the gas earlier with the LST2, I did the same with the Sav off this little incline, and was getting some nice launches.. - and the offsets were actually helping out.

One annoying thing about the Sav compared to the LST2 in the bashing dept is that it likes to lay upside down after bad landings, while the LST2 rarely ends up belly-up..

And once again my liking of the Axial was reinforced.. It's just such a great engine to work with.. Think I was experiencing the half-tank lean thing, but richened the HSN a tad and then it ran like a charm, in the 200-215 deg range..

OK, gotta work on the vid.. Was a lot of fun jumping in a place and not being restricted to a ramp 2-3 inches wider than the truck.. Still had some horrendous crashes..

Also blew a shock - not broken though - it just came unscrewed and leaked all the oil out everywhere. Didn't notice til the last tank was done - so who knows how many jumps I was doing like that.. I know for sure I put everything together correctly and tight, but maybe this is a disadvantage of shock socks...

Another thing about the LST2 - it's not only a hog on fuel, but really eats up the receiver packs.. Which - out in the middle of nowhere and of course with a full tank of gas(always seems to be full when the bats go dead..), are NOT easy or particularly pleasant to change...

Next up for the LST2 will be a set of Big Joes - on as yet undecided rims - probably the stock dish rims, dyed black..., assuming they work with the 'Joes..

I'm also still searching for a better bod - which is really not very easy if you run the wing kit AND especially the New Era roll-bar - both of which I insist on for the time being.. If it weren't for the roll-bar I'd get the LST Racer bod, or Desert Rat.

Anybody know of any truggy bodies - big ones - that would fit an LST2 with a tall roll-bar??? Maybe the Thunder Tiger ST1??

truggy bods wont fit, way to small, what about a crowd pleazer? They go well with the rollbar and u just cut a chunk out of the rear for the wing.

Stock rims are 40 series so the big joes will fit them

No - it's the normal one.. I just tried it again and it just doesn't fit at all between the front bumper and rear-wing.. You must have to cut off a lot..

Not THAT crazy about the looks either. I like the CP2.0 on my LGT a lot, but somehow it looks cartoonish on an LST2 - just my opinion...

Is the LST2-specific one shorter??

hey PatrickBW, do you run the stock engine on your LST2? would you say it's powerful enough for wheelies??

Yep, it's stock - and it wheelies now - within ten tanks.. Not quite the wheelie fun factor the Savage has though, without the roll-bar.. My LST2 is heavy too with the wing and roll-bar - so yes, the stock engine will wheelie...

Which reminds me - I think my slipper is too loose.. I still don't know how to set the slipper very accurately. Normally you twist in all the way and one turn out..

But how do you tell when it's in all the way in(all joking aside...) without stripping something???????????

to set the slipper all you do is hold the gears and tighten the nut. mine is at 1/4 to 1/2 turn out, the 1/4 is a little tight but anything after that i found good to a 1/2 turn.

I run mine at one full turn out with my racing tires, with bigger tires or stocker I would be very careful about anything less than 3/4 turn out from firm in.

I reach behind the spurs and hold the slipper clutch pack. You turn the adjustment nut in till firm (don't force it) and then back out to the desired setting. I start at one full turn out.

Hi, thanks..

Yeah, but when is "firm"?? I always back off - but you reach a point where the wheels start turning, but you COULD make it even tighter...

So - sorry for the retard question - but I think I have to ask: how precisely do you define "firm"??

You can removed the cover and see the spring, right behind the nut, become fully compressed when the adjustment nut is firm. This will give you a feel for what firm is.

OK, this time I had the truck on it's side instead of on all 4, and "all the way in" was easier to find.. I loosened it out half-way between 3/4 and 1 full turn...

Is there another way to test if it's too loose or too tight, when it's running for ex?? Or things to look out for??

At the first sign of slippage just turn it in slightly. The slipper is highly functional and should be adjusted in very fine increments like the needles on a carb. That slipper really comes into play when landing big jumps with large tires and wheels.

So a full turn would be adviseable then.....

Yeah Patrick, the LST slipper differs from the Savage slipper... it actually works. The slipper in the LST2 is really nice and I haven't even had to change the pads in mine yet. After upgrading the engine in my Savage it was either lock it down and adjust your driving style, or replace the pad every half gallon
