I need help installing a G23 engine in a PT19, especially the angle
of the firewall and engine mount.
Please help me if you can.

I'm currently putting together a GP PT-19 for a friend of mine. We had originally planned to put a G23 (glow version) on this plane but decided to use another engine instead.

If you are going to use the factory aluminum back plate, you'll have to fabricate a plywood spacer to go between the engine and the firewall, as the mounting screws will interfere with the round-head bolts that are on the firewall. IMHO, your best bet is to remove the alumnimum backplate and mount the engine directly on the firewall. This way, you'll have to remove the firewall and screw in the engine mounting bolts from behind, and then reinstall the firewal/engine assembly.

The PT-19 cowl is very narrow, so you're gonna have to cut it up a whole bunch regardless of whether you mount the G23 sideways or inverted. I think inverted with a "wrap around" style aftermarket muffler would be best, but if you use the factory muffler, mounting it sideways might minimize butchering on the fiberglass cowl.

On the brightside, the distance between the firewall and the prop hub with the G23 is almost perfect on the GP PT-19. 5-3/4", IIRC.

If your G23 is the gas version, bear in mind that the plane will be quite nose heavy, so you might plan ahead on that before you decide on how you're gonna mount your radio gear.

Good luck.
