Offshore Electrics also has a their own upgrade drive cable for the SV27 that is already cut to length, end soldered, with a drive dog and prop nut. Drop in replacement if you don't want to worry about having to cut the Hughey cable.

I had to share this video with you. Bigmax96 shot this Saturday at our Fun Run of my son getting a little wild with my boat. It was windy when it was shot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OW03KDJT67Y

Cwaterhunter is right, great video Ron! That kid's got a bit of a wild streak. Was that a barrel roll I saw?

Anyways, the moment of truth has arrived, I finally received my boat on Thursday, already had to mod the radio box (stupid little plastic tabs), tightened all of the rear fasteners, lubed the drive cable, replaced the prop and test fired on the bench. I'm out to a local pond to see how bad I can wreck things. I never start off easy and slow. Something about "pin it to win it" that always sticks in my mind.

I'll let you guys know how the day went. Wish me luck!

Tombo

I can't take credit for the video but my son likes ot drive the hell out of the obats. He's good with them when he wants to be as he's driven all of mine. I let him drive while I see how the boats are doing as it seems ot be easier that way for me.
If you watch the video he rolls it not just once but twice and maybe a third time. The other(s) happen quickly.
Yeah, he's crazy like his old man!

Well, I spent about an hour on the water today, only two minor "mishaps". First, I forgot the tools to adjust my prop shaft output. Second...I got a little cocky cornering and flipped her on her lid. Good thing the pond is only waist deep.

My boat ran pretty nose light. I think I need to ad a little down trim in the prop the keep the nose in the water.

Also, I noticed a little "chine walk"' What is the best way to bend my trim tabs? Can you guys let me know how you adjust these? I tried a little at the pond, but I was afraid I might mess something up on the hull. What is the best way to check my angles? Any special tool I should have?

Thanks for the help. Can't express enough how much this rook appreciates it.

Tombo

I wasn't brave enough to try and bend them on the boat. I thought they might break the fiberglass. I have heard people do this all the time, though.

I would take mine off, bend them down a little, and sit them side by side to get the angles matched up, then put them back on and ran it. Tedious process, so I invested $20 in the adjustable trim tabs from OffshoreElectrics.com and love them. Very easy to make adjustments on the boat with just a turn of the allen wrench. Direct bolt-on replacement, comes with the hardware and no need to drill any new holes.

PS When you get ready to balance & sharpen your own props, I highly recomend the Octura M440. Also from OSE. Just ran it this weekend - wow!

Hey guys! I recently pulled my SV27 out and checked it over (I broke it last year and never fixed it!) and I have decided to get it running again since the water is finally warm enough to swim out and get it! I know I need a new flex cable, radio box, and some screws, but I also need a new stuffing tube. I cant seem to find any online, and I have no idea what size to buy. Can anyone help me out? I could really use a link to somewhere that sells one that is pre-bent to the right shape, as I dont want to mess another one up!

Also, has anyone found a fool-proof way of fixing the radio box for good? Does anyone have a link? Finally, does anyone have a link to an easy mod to quiet this beast down a but?

Thanks!

After getting fed up with mine cracking I cut the tabs off from the lid then used the tabs on the box to run rubber bands over the top. When I get some time I'll probably end up by building my own radio box for it out of some lite ply.
I do have a buddy who did up a CAD file for a wood radio box and was going to have my sister laser cut some for me but she's tight on time now with her own business and 3 cutters going around the clock.
Sorry Aquacraft but I can't see spending another $39.00 for another piece of brittle plastic.

yeah ron, i love mine, but the radio box sure is a let down. small price to pay for the rest of the fun this boat is though!! i am in the middle of modding a vegas box to replace the factory one, waaaay cheaper, not too much work involved. i drilled new holes for the boots and relocated them, cut off and glued the old box bottom to the vegas one, that way it bolts right back in the factory spot...

not quite finished, but i'll post pics when i get it finished.......

I built a lite ply radio box from the plans I found here in the SV27 thread. On page 21, post #516, about half way down the page. Has worked out excellent, and only about $15 in materials at the most. I did a screw down top instead of tape down. Has been upside down a few times and no leaks.
