I broke my pull start to my Tornado BB and I want to know if I should buy this:
http://www.redcatracing.com/itemdetail_part.asp?partno=70111t
or, a regular pull start like this:
http://www.redcatracing.com/itemdetail_part.asp?partno=87001

Does anyone know what the starter gun does and how easy it is to install/operate?

I have the rotostart in the first link and i am not crazy about it. I bought the recommended battery and it just wont turn my engine over at all to start it. It could be my engine but i think its my starter, so i use a drill instead to start it. I wish i had just bought another pull start, less stuff to carry around.

it is really easy to install. I love it. No more sore thumbs because of the pull start. I think it well worth it.

This place is cheaper (no battery and charger)

The one with battery and charger:

You can get the battery and charger combo @ radioshack, it is up to you:

I hate charging things - which is the reason I switched to nitro cars - so I think I'll buy the pull start if I can't fix it. Does anyone know how to fix pull starts?

I had a few engines I couldn't start with a drill, it didn't seem to turn the engine over fast enough to start or something, even when it was fully charged.

most 18volt drills have a torque setting or high speed setting, you need to have it set on the high speed setting, the lower setting is too slow. At least the ones i have, lol and i have like 10.

my drill does have multiple settings but they are just for adjusting torque not speed. i actually took off the glow plug and watched the piston move up and down. then i put the pull start back on a did the same.....not even close to the same rotation rate. seriously, should i have gone with the starter box? seems like it might have been cheaper once you consider buying battery packs starter backplate and charger.
