What a day! Took the extra time tuning the engines (the twinman method). Rollout was straight, took maybe 45, 50 feet and she was airborne! No problem with liftoff, very smooth and predictable. Climbed to about one hundred feet or so and throttled back to half throttle. Three clicks of left aileron, two clicks up elevator and it was smooth ,so smooth!
Flight time was aout five minutes, a few low passes and throttle back to set up for approach. Got her lined up with the runway and kept my decend smooth and gradual. Flared at about a foot and let her roll on the back gear for a few seconds and the let the nose touch. What a feeling taxiing back to the pits! I parked her in my spot in the pits and shut the engines down.
She flew almost effortlessly. I didnt go again as I wanted to get a full inspection done (as I like to do ) after a maiden flight. Couldnt be happier! Good luck to every one else on their maiden flight!

Status: offline 		Thanks....no doubt, the long nose is ugly, it was strictly a balance decision. Now that the maiden flight is behind me, I plan to finish the extras.....FLIR under the nose, Drop tank, maybe a few guns on the sponsoons.
But for now, relieved the maiden flight is in the books!

Status: offline 		Yes they did, very solid. Rollout was very smooth, as well as on the landing and the taxi back to the pits. I know I keep saying that (smooth), but that's the best way to describe it.
A friend of mine finished his Bronco a year ago, he has not flown his as of yet. (After watching my maiden flight, I think I might be recruited to fly his for him, Cool!) The landing gear wire (struts) on his are of a smaller diameter than mine. I have to assume spring air has upgraded or beefed up the gear for the larger Bronco.
Be sure to lock-tite all lock collar set screws on the gear as the post flight inspection found a few to be loose.
All reports on her flying habits in this thread were very true, a very stable, smooth, predictable flier!
Can't wait till next weekend!

TopGun was great. Hightly recommended if you have never attended or even if you have.

Noticed there were no Broncos at TG. Hummmmm. Maybe we can change that. I was wearing a shirt with an OV-10 on it and be sure Rich noticed that. Don't think it helped my friend with his static score though.

Anyway my Bronc is getting some paint. Just about ready for the nomenclature then clearcoat. Have all of the servos hooked up and all looks good. Will post some pics just prior to the first flight.

Going to buy a Hot Spot and RAM 750 from Rod and take the turbine plunge myself.

Been that way for a while. Last time I caught Bobby was just before he left to work at his neighbor's farm where they were short handed. I'd guess brother Bob will return in a month or two. Remember, way back when there were some supply and demand issues related to some fiber glass and plastic parts???? Things out here in the RC scale component world are skinnier now than they ever have been. That was part of my discussion with Rich and Nick Saturday afternoon. The designers are getting tired of being ripped off so no one's getting permission to lay up glass these days.

What are you looking for?

I'm still trying to find someone to machine my retract struts at 1/6th scale. The knuckles need to be milled to permit correct sizing. I would love to sell a main strut which can be assembled by the customers. The trailing arm only has one welding component...the tang for attachment of the compression strut at the lower end. The top end is attached above the yoke to another tang. The rest of it is press fit into the tube ends then pinned in place. Its the same issue we're seeing with the fiber glass guys. They can't do enough volume of a single type or it takes too long to make than someone is willing to do.

There are at least twenty guys out there wanting a scale 1/6th trailing arm strut for the OV-10... If one guy would agree to make the parts for buyer assembly he'd sell it all at one time.

Status: offline 		Well Bob owes me a foam core wing for the OV-10 bronco. Guess I'll keep trying. He billed my credit card 6 weeks ago!

Seems to be a problem with this industry. Iron Bay still owes me a manifold adapter for the G-62 to mate to their Purr Power muffler. Bought it with Hellcat kit I purchased. Last I heard from them it would be several months!

Status: offline 		Some of it is supply and demand. A legit circumstance where in it is not wise to carry huge inventories of specialty items not prone to large market potential. However there are other circumstances where the real world economy and day time jobs are squeezing every living spare moment of discretionary time from anyone remotely connected to the hobby industry and the 99% rule of cottage industry being the majority of the one's who are actually manufacturing most of what's being bought and sold.

The hobby industry has changed a great deal in the last five years. With consolidation a lot of what anyone has known for the last twenty some odd years is still here. A lot of it is gone to never return. Look at something like hinges...specifically CB/Tatone's 2212, 2213, and 2214's. These are probably the broadest application giant scale hinges out there. You would be hard pressed to find them easily though Horizon and GP carry them. They change the part numbers so their own people can't even find them when you call to ask for them. If you are one whom likes these, start hording them up...

Status: offline 		Our Club president, Mike Wise, just finished and flew his scratch built 80" Bronco. We now have two OV10s in the club and another in the planing. Mine has about 20 flights and is flying great. Mike's flies almost exactly like mine. Uravich did a great job designing this airplane.

I red somewhere that in the Model Airplane News issue of FEBRUARY 2001 (Volume 129 • Number 2) there should be a complete construction review for building the Rich Uravitch Bronco OV-10 81".

Could someone please help me with a copy or scan of this particular item. Over here in the Netherlands old MAN's are apparently not available.
