I have developed a documentation resource for the OV-10 for an FAI F4C
project going back to 1996 the year the OV-10 was withdrawn from active
service and aircraft were retired from service in Atlanta and Yuma.

A few remained in various unmentionable service duties and continue to do
so with varying degrees of success...One of those duty stations was North
of Houston for a number of years. Until last year the Davis-Mothan Ov-10's
stood as the last...but they are now gone.

Pictures always tell a story better than words...why they are gone...; (

Yes, the photo is real with point of nationality unknown...it is an OV-10
being targeted...

Based on length of a SSAM tube and stature of the person aiming it my
guess is in the Philippine Islands where until two months ago they were
chasing short bad guy's in green stuff.

Of course the altitude shown is also out of school and anything that high
is inviting SSAM traffic. Getting down on top of the leaves is where it is
safe.

This family's enthusiasm for the NA300 is absurd bordering on the OCD... : )

My daughter's documentary "One Tough Ride" on the OV-10, the men, plane,
and the mission will be released late this spring. The short version fulfills her
MFA Masters program at University of North Texas while working as production
manager, producer, and director in the industry since a senior at Houston Baptist
University. A short tease trailer is here: http://ov10film.com/

What a teaser. Your daughters documentary will be a winner. Will it be on DVD? Keep up with the documentation on the Bronco. I'm waiting on my kit from Precision cut kits. Again great photos.

Yes, Jami's documentary is on DVD. There will be a full length version for film festival and
television broadcast. The OV-10 Assn. OBA was given the right to sell the documentary in
support of OV-10 restoration efforts and continued maintenance of the OBA museum and
its aircraft which is now a unified project including the Forward Air Controller's Museum.

The OBA is an operating unit within Veterans Air Park in Fort Worth. It is a museum focused
on the historic aviation contributions of Fort Worth. It is currently located at Meacham Field
just North of Fort Worth on I-35W.

Purchases of the documentary from the OBA will benefit the OV-10 & FAC Museums within
the Veterans Air Park. Sometimes things do come together to the advantage of everyone involved : )

This more or less falls under the title of documentation resources:

An update on my daughter's OV-10 documentary is a title change: "One Tough Ride"

This is a more appropriate title for a documentary which puts you in the pilot and back seat permitting you to experience
seat of the pants piloting of an attack aircraft. Jami takes you along for ground support and attack missions. Its as close
as you can get without finding a hole or two in the canopy...next to your head.

Jami's production company digitized 50 reels of OV-10 footage from NAA and the DoD. There is 8mm film from Vietnam
that has yet to be digitized. It was shot from the front and back seat, during overhauls, and armoring to permit you to
experience what its like out there at barely 330 knots level and 515+ in a dive over jungle throwing "things"...back up!

Film includes interviews with the fathers of the OV-10 and father of OV-10's most aggressive configuration...
For those interested, the OV-10 Assn. is accepting contributions to offset Jami's expense of this documentary. A two an
a half year project that has taken her along a wonderful but expensive trek to tell the story of the men, the missions,
and the plane named "Bronco" by its "Night Riders".

Jami is releasing a DVD version of the full length broadcast documentary. If a copy of the DVD sounds like your cup of tea
....making a contribution to the OV-10 Assn is one click away. DVDs will be available late spring to early summer. Make your
"One Tough Ride" designated contribution to the OV-10 Assn. $50 USD or greater and you receive a copy of the film on DVD.

Emailing Jami will begin your contribution process: Hollywood@OV10Film.com

(The Fort Worth Veteran's Memorial Air Park (FWVMAP), a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation at the Vintage Flying Museum
facilities at Meacham Field at 505 NW 38th Street, Fort Worth, TX 76106.)

Thanks to those supporting the OV-10 Association and Jami's efforts.

Jami edited her OV-10 Movie web site last evening to list the multiple levels of support for the
OV-10 Bronco Assn. and the premiums you receive in return. Now, you can subscribe to the OV-10
Film Newsletter. Click Newsletter at http://www.ov10film.com

1). Contribute a minimum of $50 USD to the OBA and receive a free broadcast length copy of
the OV-10 documentary DVD.

2). Contribute $100 USD to the OBA and you receive the documentary DVD and all interviews and
documentation resources compiled for the movie. A treasure trove of OV-10 documentation.

3). Contribute $300 USD to the OBA and your name will appear in the screen credits, plus you get
all the items in (2) above.

If you've ever wanted to see your name scroll by in a movie credit here's your chance.

-That DVD sounds too good to resist! Some OV-10 patches would be pretty special too. Nice job Ed and Jami!
-Hey OV-10 model builders, what's going on out there? How about some progress reports?
-My OS .91s are installed and the cowls are installed. I made a balsa tail cone and a horizontal stab (saved ~6 oz total), so all the major pieces are fabricated. Just for reference, the complete airframe with motors (minus covering, avionics, retracts, etc) weighs about 13 lbs (Note, 2 OS 91s weigh ~3lbs). With a little luck, this plane will weigh ~18lb, which is what Rich Uravitch predicted.

Pattnut, you are right on. That website is important for many aircraft; I used it for a future C47 project. In my mind, I think FliteMetal and Jami win the prize for most documentation for the OV-10, it's very impressive what information they have gathered up. Besides various aircraft configurations, I'm also interested how the plane was used and what the pilots were like. With a little luck, I'm hoping to fly my plane similar to the FACs in Vietnam.

Benji of the OBA has all the OV-10 patches you need. There is a link to Benji
aka Eminant (sp?) Presence's web site within the OV-10 Assn web site.

I have one and a half gig of YOV-10D NOGs/NOS documentation which will be
made available as well. I am compiling the video presentation for the YOV-10D
portion of the OV-10 musuem. It covers the YOV-10D, NOGS/NOS to the D+.

Jami and I were fortunate to have the fathers of the OV-10 to ourselves for a
three hour interview. The USMC's K.P. Rice and Bill Beckett with their constant
confidence in K.P.'s vision with selling skills to push the concept in front of all
the right people in the right corners of the Pentagon paid off and makes for a
very interesting portion of the documentary.

Their success resulted in NAA being chosen as "the" prefered contractor during
the LARA competition and Mr. Reuben Best assigned as the NA-300 YOV-10
Project Manager. Its all there in the documentary and will be available shortly.

FliteMetal,
My main intrest lies in the OV-10A, Air Force "short nose" version, as displayed in the AF museam. I was stationed at Danang AB, as a Covey FAC flying missions over the Ho Chi Mihn trail, 69,70.
There is a photo of "my" (had my name on it) "Bronco" on Airliner.net. The tail no. is 819.
My KMP OV-10 will be painted/detailed to match that photo.

Jami's documentary focuses on the men, the missions and the plane across
evolution of OV-10 from Rice and Beckett's 20 ft. w/s YOV-10 through to the
D+ when the OV-10 was pulled from service in '95. The original was acutally
little more than a fiber glass model built in a garage.

My personal involvement with the OV-10 began when I found a cropped b/w
close up photo of what I assumed was an OV-10D in what was a three tone
paint scheme...but not a standard three shades of gray...something of a quirk.

I sought help from the usual suspects, NAA (bought by Rockwell), USN (VAL4),
and USMC for answers because they used the OV-10's in an attack mode...not
restricted to FAC. To my surprise I didn't find answers.

Beyond a paint scheme differential, the photo showed a T.I. FLIR unit, and belly
mounted gatling gun. It didn't have the fixed position 20mm Vulcan. As you can
imagine this configuration was more than my curiosity could resist... I was off
on a hunt that would last until late 2005.

Pattnut, my hat's off to you and all the other Bronco drivers. FYI, I was a Sonar Operator in SH3a 'copters in '69-'72 (USNR). I'm building my OV-10 just to say "Thanks" to all the Navy, Marines, and Air Force teams who gave so much.
