You want something that will slow down. Shooting a plane while flying sounds easy, but take my word, it is not. 3 years ago our club did this to raise money. I flew the plane, and out of the 300 or so shots shot at my plane, only 2 hit. This was low slow flyby's less than 40 feet in front of the shooter, and less than 10 feet high.

I have been dreaming of this for two years! I was calling the game SPLADBALL.

Glad I am not the only one. I have two 40's around and a ton of coro.

I was thinking of a wing maybe 36" or so. Would be quick and easy to build a few and should make a good target.

I was thinking of the motor and elects to be mounted to a thin piece of ply run the length of the wing to both stiffin it up and be detatchable when the wing gets damaged.. then just screw on a new one. Wieght wo't matter cuz like Deadeye said it needs to go slow anyway. Just has to fly.

THAT'S IT, gonna do it!

Have Fun!
Andy

One shot hit the fuse, and we didn't even notice it until it landed, no damage, just goo. The other went through the sign vinyl wingtip cover on one side and made more of amess inside the wing than anything. Wiped it up, new vinyl, done. The guns we used weren't all that powerful, maybe middle of the road as far as paintball guns go.

So if i understand correctly if we were to use the same caliber guns we have nothign to worry about if the plane gets bombarded with paintballs and it wont desintagraqte when it gets hit thats good news...

Use a SPA3D and harrier it around 2 to 10 feet off the ground. Nice and slow.... big wing to hit, and if it gets knocked down, just crank it up and go again. Sounds like a hoot!

Now that is a good route to go. A fellow club member had one with a Saito 72 a few years ago. Never thought about the SPA3D. Easy to hit, easy to fix.

Nope, tuck the receiver under the wing flap, the servos are on the top where they won't get hit and the battery won't even notice it.

SPAD3D, good idea.

I had one with the Saito 72 on it for a while, then switched back to the TT-46. The .46 is lighter and faster spool ups, but the Saito sure did sound nice putt-putt around a foot off the ground.

Great idea on putting the receiver under the wing flap for protection. With the other servos in the aluminum frame, they'll be protected by the profile fuselage.
