This is for Ed Redmond, would like to make contact with you about your Grim Reaper. Beautifull P-51! Has Sal ( owner of the origanal Grim Reaper ) had a chance to see it yet? Would be nice to see a pic of both together. Thanks, Lon

Hi Lon,

Thanks for your interest in my model of the "Grim Reaper". It would be beyond my wildest imagination to have my model in the same picture as the real one.

I have not been in touch with Mr. Rubino at all. I preferred to respect his privacy than to drill him with a lot of questions. The only source of info came from mustangsmustangs.com.

I'm still adding details to it while waiting for another good day at the dry lake for another first flight attempt. Just hooked up the inner doors to a separate pneumatic valve on channel seven. Now, I have to remember to open and close the doors before operating the gear (didn't have enough to think about before).

Couldn't synchronize a pneumatic sequencer with the Likes Line retracts because they are so slow. Besides that, my budget is pretty much shot on this plane.

If interested, more pictures can be seen on my web site. Thanks,

Ed

Ed,
How about a pic of the two, side by side "in flight". Just kidding. About a year ago I bought a Wayne Siewert P-51 kit just to do the Reaper. Sal was kind enough to roll out the plane ( just restored), take a couple rolls of pics and send them to me. Along with the pics was a note that if I wanted to come down and take my own pics and look it over, let him know and the boys would open the hanger. That was very gracious of Sal, but I felt VERY small talking to a guy that just restored a P-51, and all I was doing was a model!!!!! If I can be of any help getting the two of you together for a photo shoot let me know.
Thanks, Lon

Lon,

Sal really sounds like a likable guy and easy to approach.

If I was building a model like Dana Muelot's museum quality 1/4 Scale "Old Crow", which can be seen at www.cebudanderson.com/quarterscale.htm I would feel justified in contacting Sal for info or pictures. My airplane is strictly for flying and, I'm sure, lots of dings and desert rash.

I have two more 1/4 scale fuselages. Depending on the results of flights with this one, I may do another one in the polished finish like his.

I appreciate your offer to link us up but I don't think this model does his plane the justice that it deserves. I'll certainly keep your offer in mind.

If you have pictures of your Siewert model, I would be interested in seeing them.

Thanks again,

Ed
