Ok.......... everything but the gyro installed, Am not having any luck getting the servos to respond properly. Using the DX6, what settings should the swash be set at? Also channel reversing......hmmmmm.

Heres a pic of the servos.

Blue is the AIL
Red is the ELE
Green is the PIT or on my Rx - AUX

Swash right now is set at +55% on all 3 servos
Channel reversing is as follows..
AIL norm
ELE reverse
RUD reverse
GER norm
PIT reverse
THR norm

I'm not sure about your software so i cannot comment. But try and keep the pushrod ball ends fairly close to minimise the amount of stress on the servos.

arrrow, i have the DX6 and an XL ( now in many pieces ) but the settings and channels you have are what i was using and once i got the gyro figured out and set up right, everything worked fine.
and no, my crash was not due to poor set up, after some more research, i had way too much +collective for a training hover, gave it one 'click' too many on the throttle and it rolled while i was attempting to bring it down... and Boom!
id say keep it within a few inches or a foot from the ground at full throttle until you get used to it, thats some insight thats going to cost me quite a bit of money....
your build looks good, keep it up!

Ok..have finally installed all the electronics and I am in the programming stage. theDonDon................. I am going to bug you for some more settings for the DX6. Any possibility that I could get some from you also Zero? Sounds like we have pretty close to the same setup. If they are close I will clone the TREX in the TX and try both!
Also have hit a wall with the Gyro, I have no idea what I am doing. Finless's video is for the Futaba GY401, I have a TLB gyro....... my question is if the setup is the same? I arm the Rx and the rudder servo slides all the way left and starts buzzing. I will look at programming in the TX and see what I can do to fix that. Will take some pics after I get servos set up and gyro figured out. Also got some paint for the canopy and possibly the horizontal fin, the yellow kinda bugs me. Personal taste............

Pics will follow after todays work, I had company over till about noon today, then ran to LHS and got some more supplys and the crystal set for my Futaba 6EXH. I just got home and figured I would post here first......then start fiddling.

Looks great Arrow.

I ordered this motor and speed control for mine, I got it today but NO speed control! Had to come home and check the auction again to make sure it was supposed to be there.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26satitle%3D180097416057%26category0%3D%26fvi%3D1&item=180097416057&rd=1

Sent them a polite email and will wait to see what's up. I know the price was low but it's not my fault no one else bid.

Update on this: the seller was very polite and asked for pictures of what I received which I promptly sent. The apologized and sent me a tracking number for the ESC, so other than slow shipping it seems to have worked out o.k. Will let you know when I get it if all is not well.

I'm planning on watching for a good deal on a DX7 transmitter for all my heli's. On ebay there is also a seller offering 3 HS 65 servo's and one HS 65 servo with metal gears for $92 plus shipping - is this a good deal? Need the radio, servo's, gyro and CDE kit before I can get going on my build.

Looks good Arrow, your getting so close. Can't wait to hear about the first hover...

Ya looky. the main shaft was pretty easy, I used a .5mm allen key and slipped it through the main gear collar and shaft....then pulled it out just enough to get one of the grub screws in and partially tight. Pull the allen key out and insert yhe other grub screw and tighten both equally (don't forget the loctite). I had to remove one at a time and put loctite on, then reinsert. Taken any pics yet? We wanna see...heh
As for my build................
I ended up reversing the swash on all 3 collective CCPM servos and now have the swash reacting properly to TX inputs, but still have not gotten the gyro figured out. The directions for it are extremely vague (seems to be the case with most heli parts) so I have been fighting that off and on. Been painting the canopy also to see if I can get the color as deep as i want it. Am on the 3rd coat now and will wet sand this coat then start clear coating to get the gloss in it. I will also be painting the top of the horizontal fin and leave the bottom yellow. It will be a good visual clue for orientation in flight.
Am looking for some more in depth documentation for my particular gyro, if anyone has any links I would be most grateful.

Sadly, I have hit yet another wall, Hooked up the ESC last nite and nothing, no sounds from it at all, This was the first time it had been hooked up to the battery and I didn't get any sounds from it like in finless's video. Also have noticed that on my DX6, theres only 2 settings for the TLS (idle up mode) on mine.TLS and T2S but no THS. Idle up throttle curves are a tad important I believe. Do I have a defective radio? And a defective RX or possibly ESC?
I tried switching 2 wires from the motor to ESC just to check, but still nothing. It's like it doesn't recognize theres a TX. I am afraid to flip the RX plug over in the RX. I don't want to fry anything. Just to note, all the servos and gyro work fine and responding properly. Should I rebind the TX/RX? If needed I can post my TX settings when I get back later today.

huh. well, i have the same limited idle up settings on my DX6, so no, yours is not defective and im not sure about those settings either...
is your motor hooked up when you apply power (plug in the battery) to the system? i noticed my esc didnt make any sound either until everything was connected...

Ya....just got off the phone with spektrum, By default THS is 100%, so its not listed on the TX. Page 80 of the manual has a note stating just that....heh!
As far as ESC and motor, everything is hooked up. I get no power at all to the ESC or possibly the motor is bad. Have to run to work but will check the throttle plug on the RX with my pitch servo just to make sure its not the RX channel thats bad. I will be calling the vendor today also if that doesn't yeild results. What a bummer! This is the last step before maiden spoolup! (sniffles)

are the stock blades not very good? the SE kit came with two sets, woodies and CF....

this is my first Trex, so I'm all ears as to a good set. On the CP Pro, I found the EFlite CF Symmetricals to be great for that heli.

on another note.... the worst has happened!

my DX7 stopped working! not sure what happened, I power up the controller and nothing. When I plug the controller into the charger I don't even get the charge light. Also, on my AR6100 one of the antennae's fell off. This happened shortly before the controller going out, can this be related? I put an email into horizon hobby to see what the warranty coverage is....

stay tuned!

lookyj......those are covered for a year, And my guess is that your Rx will be replaced. As far as charging your DX7......... are you using a wall wart? Is there a possibility that the plugins breaker has popped? Tried another outlet I am assuming?
As far as blades go, I am starting with the heavier fiber ones and will keep the woodies as spares, or should it be the other way around? I don't want explosive head speed to start, just enought to get me a couple feet off the ground and then set down. I haven't weighed or balanced either set yet but will as soon as I know whats up with my ESC/motor.
Just called the vendor I got the kit from, the tech stepped out and is supposed to call me back here at home. I am so hoping I have something not kosher in the TX, but no sounds at all from the motor lead me to believe that its either the Rx channel (which I will be checking shortly) or the ESC or the motor. wish me luck!
By the way lookyj.......wheres the pics?? How far are you on your build? Keep us updated ol buddy!
