Dear Friends,

1. Three of my Duralites (800mah dual cells) went bad over the winter. Should I have been charging them monthly? They had not had many uses, but could have they self-discharged below 4.0 and lost the ability to hold a charge?

2. On some Duralites, there are two leads coming out. Why?

3. Can somebody recommend a proper method to keep these expensive batteries from going bad?

4. Is there a method to quick charge Duralites yet?

Thanks,
Mark

This is one of the downsides of these batteries. IMO the current generation of NICAD's offer the best value/performance going.

Hi Mark, this is exactly why I left Duralites and went to the NIMH batteries as well as still using the NICADS. All my expensive Duralites went bad within 1-1&1/2 years. I purchased a Sirius Pro Plus to charge both the nimh and the nicads and couldn't be happier with the results. It is super simple to use and manages all my battery needs....works for me!! Also I can purchase about 3 1650 mah nimh's from Radical Rc ( Dave Thacker) for what I could buy 1 Duralite 800 mah.

The last thing I heard about Duralite batteries was that they are no longer available. My advice would be to dump the lot and go back to Nicads!

I also have had similar experiences with the Duralites going bad prematurely. Switch back to Nicads before spending any more $$$ on them Duralites.
