I just got a new Eagle 50 from Raidentech. Despite what the factory claims, my Eagle 50 was NOT setup at all and based on it's condition I doubt anyone could have flown it let alone myself. For starters, one of the flybar paddles was off by about 7 degrees relative the other one. I had to reset both of them. Then I noticed that the swash plate was way off and I even had to remove one of the servo arms and recenter it then re-adjust the swash plate link arms. The blades were tracking all out of wack so I had to do that too. Then I found that the heli was WAY tail heavy. I had to ad a 1/2 ounce of lead to the front of the receiver to get it close to balance.

I chose the Eagle 50 over it's OEM counterpart the Walkera 22E because the factory claims every model is flown and adjusted at the factory!?

Also, what is a good starting point for the PLT and PZT knobs? My Eagle 50 as it came from the factory wants to take off like an Estes rocket as soon as I advance the throttle 1 click too many. It's like it has an on/off switch but nothing in between. I think I was successful in re-adjusting all the mechanical items, but I have no idea where to start with the curves. I'm a relative newbie to helis having flown only coaxials and FP/CP birds on a sim. Any help would be appreciated.

to start off mine is at 0 postion. It's hard for 2 helicopters to be identical even when we both have eagle 50. I adjust them during flight.

It's important for you to get airborn first. Unplug the motor and watch your swash plate's movement as you trottle up and make sure during each imcrement your swash plate is balaced and leveled. After you've done that you're pretty much can hover then you set you curve.

Thanks

Hey I bought an Eagle 50 from Raidentech.com as well. I have problems with the helicopter moving to the side as soon as it get just above the ground. I have tried trimming it from my TX but tht did not do it. I also had trouble with leveling like it says in the instruction. No matter how much i move the battery my helicopter tilts nose up. And i am just curious how long does the battery last for you guys each time u charge it, mine lasts at most 10-15 min then dies out. Please respond to this message as i am a newbie and I am still learning. I have an aerospace background in helicopters but have never owned an RC helicopter before. thanks.

Welcome to the forum.

Don't get me wrong when I say this, and let me say you will find lots
of helpful people here... you will do yourself a LOT of good by doing some
reading that will help you tremendously.

Your helicopter is a clone of the Walkera 22E... read this thread
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3722641/tm.htm
Here is a thread about the Eagle 50 with lots of good info...
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5094997/tm.htm

and in this forum you are at now have a look at each thread you will find
useful notes.

Here are some notes and links to You Tube videos for beginners I put
together, and some hacks I will be adding shortly.
http://www.atlanticbreezes.com/helicopters/

And of course RADD's School of Flight...
follow the links on the left for Battery #1 through the end...
http://www.dream-models.com/eco/flying-index.html

I have read numerous complaints... about Eagle 50's from Radientech...
"Eagle 50 from Raidentech..... "
just as yours. I don't work for any company... I got mine (2 Eagle 50's)
from another company... and while not perfect were just about ready to fly.
All these model types are tail heavy for starters. A lot of us swap out the battery
and the receiver for almost perfect balance.
You will find numerous notes on this "hack."

I had to add six 7gram lead weights (1 1/2 oz.) to the nose of my eagle 50. Maybe the factory tethers the heli on a rope during testing

She's a little piggy but she does fly
