They did give me the name of Keleo Creations which I was already aware of.......I did ask what happened and they stated that the vendor they were using could not produce the muffler. They did not have any other response. This was very disappointing because this is the first time that something like this has happened to me personally. Now I have to find a muffler that does not exist. It would be different if they never made the claim that one would be produced or if they put something on their website. Oh well - it is a hobby :-)

Though I have never dealt with Keleo Creations, I know their product comes very highly recommended and are well respected. You'll probably end up with a much better combo this way. I wonder how this development will affect their plans for racing events geared at this combo?

BTW, if you want a Keleo product soon, you better get in touch with him. Last I knew, his backlog was tremendous.

I guess we wait to see what USRA can pull off. Since they are looking at making it a class, I'm sure they might have some pull or idea's on Mufflers. Mac has emailed me and is looking into it.

Guys,

We have been working with Bisson mufflers to manufacture a replacement for the muffler we had hoped to produce. Jim is working on the details, has them in production and should have units built very shortly. The part number is BIS05660R for the race version 35GT muffler. Horizon will have this number active on 7/7/07 for backorder.

Thanks for the patience.

Pete Bergstrom... I have been in communication with Jim at Bisson and he is going to look at building one for the Moki/Mark 1.8 and 2.1 engines. They actually can use the same Pitts style muffler. Jim recommended the volume of the 2.10 sized muffler and was going to provide pressure and smoke fittings. I told him I thought that the 70 degree swept back and down designed Pitts would be ideal for reaching the opening in the bottom rear of the cowling. I have sent him detailed photographs depicting what I think might work. I also suspect that I'll need his pipe extension kit to reach the back opening, if he is able to use the stock model he has built for the Moki/Mark engine. He knows that I prefer not to cut into the cowling for the exhaust. Jim is great to work with and I predict he'll have a few options for us Sundowner folks.

I would be very interested in getting one of those mufflers because I will also be using a Moki 210 for the Sundowner as well.

Please let us know when you get some more information.

I still don't see this # on the Horizon site. Called yesterday and the person I talked to had no idea what I was talking about. I do see what looks like a new Bisson for the 35GT (BIS05561) but there is no picture or info about it. Is this it?

My plane will be here today and we have about 5 weeks left to race day!

Mike - What, if any, modifications are needed for the Evo35GT2 to fit? Anything to the firewall other than normal beefing? Do you believe the extra umph of the 35GT2 outweighs the added weight or would you stay with the 26GT? Having a hard time choosing. Thanks. Ham870

The 35GT is the required engine for the new USRA class. The existing pitts muffler for the 35 requires cutting the cowl. We don't want to do that. If you look at the Sundowner pictures on the horizon site they show a custom muffler thats beveled on the end to fit under the cowl. We're all still looking for that muffler.

All I've heard says the 26 makes for a better sport flying airplane but if you want to race USRA its got to be the 35.

Just checked with horizon (I'm a dealer) and the new number you need to tell your dealers is BIS05615. This is the racing muffler for the sundowner with the evo 35.

This number just appeared today. I checked yesterday and it wasn't there. Bad news is expected arrival is 8/17. When is the Ohio race?

The Ohio race is Aug 16-19...

If that availability date is correct, then we might have to allow other mufflers for that event...Let me see what I can find out.

I am buying ones this week. I am disappointed that the exhaust shown in its photos is no longer available. Also stayed on the phone with tech support for about an hour getting all the parts details (Not listed on Hor. Hobby website) Other than that, the plane is definitely a looker.
