JR and Futaba may be marketed in some parts by the same outfit but they are way different.

The Spectrum part has been tested pretty well and I have yet to see a well founded argument against using it, it not like 72mhz is such a great system either.

I know for a fact that Hitec is going to jump in.

I think there is a lot of talk about that but the facts as I was corrected by a major UK publication are as below

The spektrum kit is using a JR case and other components by licence to I guess save on development of the basic unit side of things.

JR is using the technology produced by Spektrum in the kit ( maybe something in the licensing deal above)

Futabe has developed its own system FASST (or something similar) Futabas system is completely differento JR's and Spektrums as it constantly hops channels always apparently avoiding any interfence.

One is faster one is possibly safer I am sure there are a lot of more technological differences but key to most of us is when the useable trannies are going to be released. So far we have seen some great beginners pieces of kit in the 6 and 7 channel Spektrum stuff and the new 6 channel Futaba. Futaba have announced a 12 channel but as I statred before is probably overkill for most fliers so a decent 9 channel (8 would do) for the mid range everyday flier would have been good but looks to me like they are making the most of the people with money burning holes in pockets before releasing the practical stuff

But we see only one system on the market under different distributors names,
all is about 'Spektrum' of Australia and its distribution by JR and Futaba, and even
partly by Graupner isn't it ???

The differences in all those three (Spektrum, Futaba and Graupner) all are about the Transmitter and
modules for it. But what is not well explained yet is why one needs so many receivers in the Airplane,
and there goes my curriousity; I am not worried about the computer-related functions, they are
always great with Futaba and JR, but the Radio-Waves-Propagation at those frequencies is a well
known problem. How it is solved here and is it solved well enough if(?) Spectrum and Futaba are telling
that if we buy and place more Receivers in the Airplane then the system works better ?!?!? So
how many receivers I should have there 2, 4 or ...??? They are pretty light but still isn't this
kind of disturbing request, i.e. should I cover the whole Aiplane with Receivers ? - Anybody,
who knows and mostly has got EXPERIENCE with the system, please tell the story.

You make a good point but do some reading on the technology. I don't want to jump into something new that has bugs either but the Spektrum full range (2 receivers) system has been in use for quite while and results have been great. It has been flown in giant scale gas, helis, jets, electric jets. I never want to be the first to try something new but I also don't want to be the last.

I just ordered and got my first JR product 9303 this past week. It is a shame that when I talked to horizon they did not mention something was in the works and maybe I should wait a week to make up my mind, instead they said order it now and have it by the weekend.

I am very unhappy with JR / Horizon. Why do many companies like this not seem to place the customers before immediate proffits????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I have run many businesses I always have put the customer first and it always paid back ten fold.

The picture of it appears to show "no", that it is configured for "universal" (Non-Futaba) type connectors.

DSM2: 2.4GHz RC Technology with a Flawless Record

Flawless record??? NOT hardly!
I just got my DX7 back, after sending it in due to FAILING range checks, NEW out of the box!!!

It was getting only 10-14 paces (30-42'). Mighty sad for a BRAND NEW DX7 radio.
Add insult to injury & I had to pay $10.45 for the privledge of insuring & postage to get my NEW/DEFECTIVE radio fixed

even though i purchased my dx7 not long ago, im running out of channels already!!
i guess ill have to start saving to get my x9303 and still be able to use my AR7000

by the way

NEVER SEEN THIS NUMBER OF USER LOOKING AT A SINGLE THREAD!!!!!

the bottom line is, if manufactures keep pushing the 2.4ghz technology this hard
they will become more affordable and more accessories will be available

plus, i hated the friggin channel wall at the hobby land (where i fly)
