Hi Onewasp,

I was busy with malfunctioning Spread-Spectrum system ... and it seems many of the people
on this discussions today have been also away the last months ... otherwise if you were right
and there are not questions like that anymore, why those people including me, we are still
wondering. Are you trying to tell that all we are waisting your time or what - no body is
forcing you reading this, isn't it ? Sorry, but you are breaking the rules in RCU with your
comments, better calm down and if everything is so clear, then propose please to
RCU to close the discussions further...

Its been flawless enough for me that I sold a radio that cost me $1200 and all my 72mhz receivers and put a Spectrum in a brand new plane that cost $2000, plus in another that costs $3000 plus.

Believe me I tried to make it mess up before I did that and flew it in a cheapie, put metal covers over it, ran low voltage, used my 2.4 g router, cellphone, 72 mhz flourecent lights and other things and it never lost a link. I concluded it was more likely going to be my fingers that cost a plane (than someone else's)

As far as the odd radio not working as advertised....Were the 72mhz one's any better or did my 9Z losing its mind a figment of my imagination?

Nuff said, better go back to Reeds or GGs instead of this new fangled stuff

I'm still going to 6 meters. KC0MDA.

Same here for now. Not had any problems in nearly 13 years on 6-meters, so I can wait a bit longer to get a full shake down of SS done.

Gentlemen:
I wish you all well on six!
I flew on six (Gen. Class from seventies) for 30+ years. I left six PERMANENTLY in 2005---reason SHOOT DOWN!!! A big $$$$ shoot down witnessed by another HAM. There was no doubt at all!

If you check around (I did) you will find that there are many areas in the USA where six has become far less reliable than 72MHz!!!!!!!

I found I was far from alone in my experience and that covered states from CA, through TX, IL, IN, MI,OH and others along the Atlantic seaboard.

Use it if you like but if you will check the latest EXCUSE for a Tech. license exam you will readily see a good part of the problem. Then add DXing on six with 1500watts and you'll see another aspect.

Simply one long time HAM flier trying to help out others.

There also is a goodly amount of interference coming from the Caribbean.
Use it with good warning and-------I wish you all luck-------'cause you're going to need it!

I sold ALL my six meter equipment together with the corresponding Super Radio Tx.s and I'm presently enjoying Spektrum. Come right in----- the water is better than FINE!

Well, as they say, YMMV. Your experience is diametrically opposed to that of mine and at least a dozen other hams I know personally. I have flown extensively in Arizona, California, Nevada, and at Muncie with not a single problem. Nor have any of the hams that I know and have witnessed flying at in those areas reported any problems. So there you go.
I only fly on 50 MHz as well. The 53 band is too close to what guys may be using for amateur radio stuff.

I know we have had this conversation before and you will remain steadfast in your opinion despite the body of evidence to the contrary. I don't doubt that you may have had problems, but I assure you that most have not and "luck" has nothing to do with it.

Every contest I go to I will run a scanner mode on my HT scanning the 50 meg band channels that we use. I have NEVER observed any indication of any unaccounted for activity.

Oh well.

Like I said, YMMV. But I do thank you for the scare. Already too many guys flying 6-meters, I don't need any company. Stay away. Dangerous.
