ekir -> RE: Lanier Radical 330 ARF (2/1/2008 12:35:15 PM)

My Radical 330 arrived last night by UPS. I opened the box and was impressed with the 3-D Profile. Covering was excellent. Will start assembling today.

I have been flying an AirfoilZ Foamy Electric Yak. This was my first 3-D electric. I have enjoyed flying it as well. Looking forward to seeing how a glow powered 3-D is different to the electric.

I have one of the E.F. Chinn Yak on order. That being said, I probably will build a Mojo Kit sometime in the future. It seems that everyone that flies 3-D Profile Aircraft, have a MoJo!

I guess I have the 3-D Bug?

PropSpinner -> RE: Lanier Radical 330 ARF (2/2/2008 1:39:23 AM)

ekir,

all good choices.

bajajrider -> RE: Lanier Radical 330 ARF (2/5/2008 3:03:56 AM)

MOJO Baybee!!!

mojo's are the BEST profile for learning on bar none.
get the kit,shake the box and out comes a mojo[:D]
its easily one of the easiest kit built planes i've touched
probro has a build for dummies thread if you need help.

oh yeah, still flying the radical, check your clevis' one split on me, made the rudder 'feel' weird in the air, lucky it didnt come off, maybe change them out to the dubro safety clevis or at least put some ca on em'

plane-o-joe -> RE: Lanier Radical 330 ARF (2/5/2008 12:59:14 PM)

[;)]Thanks for the heads up on the clevis! Just started my assembly and will probably replace most, if not all, hardware. I want a mojo so bad! New house with major clutter, Employer purchased by another company=more work, and barely enough time to assemble, much less to build=NO MOJO[:(] It sucks when you can't get your mojo on![8|]

foresterxt -> RE: Lanier Radical 330 ARF (2/7/2008 4:41:18 AM)

Well I just ordered one! [:D] I was wondering if I would be off my rocker to use a Tower .75. I don't have a .46 handy, but I've got the tower 75 all broke in and no where to go.

bajajrider -> RE: Lanier Radical 330 ARF (2/7/2008 10:30:37 PM)

sure[:D]
mo-powa the betta.
prob. going to be overweight though

I always replace the clevis' on my planes. I like the Dubro ones.

forktail devil -> RE: Lanier Radical 330 ARF (2/10/2008 1:23:17 AM)

im about to order one and i would like suggestions on a prop. I will be using a magnum 70 4stroke. whats the best 3d prop for it?

plane-o-joe -> RE: Lanier Radical 330 ARF (2/10/2008 2:31:30 AM)

[8D]You might try an APC 13x4W. I used this on a Magnum 70 that was mounted on an Accel Katana. It had a nice sweet spot for hovering that was slightly more than half throttle. I did try the APC 14x4W, but I found I didn't like the way it would spool up when pulling out. I'm sure you can get many more opinions...just my .02[:D]

PropSpinner -> RE: Lanier Radical 330 ARF (2/10/2008 11:15:40 AM)

I'm putting a 15x4W on my Saito 82. I'm waiting on my servo and servo extension order to finish building. No rush. It's too wet and cold here to fly.

rickandjayne -> RE: Lanier Radical 330 ARF (2/12/2008 2:03:40 AM)

Having Problems mounting fuel tank on LANIER 330 RADICAL, ANY SUGGESTIONS !!!

bbagle1 -> RE: Lanier Radical 330 ARF (2/12/2008 4:20:51 AM)

Does anyone have a rtf weight of this plane? If so what is your setup? I will be using a 2 cell 640mah lipo and a magnum 52 2 stroke. I just ported the magnum and will be running it on 30% with a macs pipe and header. I am hoping for 15000 rpm on an apc 12x4.

toro_0397 -> RE: Lanier Radical 330 ARF (2/13/2008 12:44:44 AM)

i dont have my plane here with me but as far as i remember, the top of both tie wraps go through the lightening holes. drill the whole for the tiewrap as low as possibe since there is a small piece of wood, which will stop the covering from ripping off.
any questions you can pm me.

ekir -> RE: Lanier Radical 330 ARF (2/13/2008 1:47:33 AM)

I am getting close to finishing the 330. All servos installed and the control rods are all finished except one. Landing gear is on the plane. Need to install engine and fuel tank, then balance. Hope to fly later in the week.

I am setting up the throws to be 45 degrees on high rate and about 20 degrees on low rate. Expo at 50%. Does that sound correct????

toro_0397 -> RE: Lanier Radical 330 ARF (2/13/2008 3:12:18 AM)

the low rates of the manual are correct, probably a little more requiered on the alierons... for the high rates i have lots of throw on the elevator and the rudder, you should start with the high rates from the manual, but i think they are not enough for 3d moves. also after flying a couple of times, move the cg a little bit back and do it gradually... it hovers much better.

ekir -> RE: Lanier Radical 330 ARF (2/13/2008 7:39:54 PM)

Propspinner

What did you use to run the elevator and rudder servo wires instead of the square tube?

toro_0397 -> RE: Lanier Radical 330 ARF (2/13/2008 7:54:18 PM)

no, i used the square tube... but i think propspinner can help you with that.

ekir -> RE: Lanier Radical 330 ARF (2/13/2008 8:20:58 PM)

Toro

I have cut the back out of the square tube. Seems like it will work ok.

Question: What location did you cut your hole for the servo wires to enter the wing? Next to the hatch?

Question: Where did you cut a hole for the throttle servo wire to enter the wing?

Question: It seems like it would be difficult to put the U Clamp up near the hatch? What location did you put your U cCamps?

Thanks for the help

forktail devil -> RE: Lanier Radical 330 ARF (2/14/2008 4:20:12 PM)

i got my 330 today, and ive started to gather all of my equipment for it. Do you guys thing HS425BB servo's would be alright for all surfaces.

toro_0397 -> RE: Lanier Radical 330 ARF (2/14/2008 9:17:01 PM)

sorry but i dont have my plane here at my house, i always hang the plane whre i fly... i will go to fly on sunday so i can tell you what you need. i think that the throttle servo lead gets into the wing near the fuelage.. i think that in line with the wire tube.

for you forktail devil... any standar torque servo will work mine has 3004

If you're referring to the picture on one of my previous post, I didn't do that. I bought that one already built from a friend. I think he just used some plastic tubing from the hobby shop and glued it in place. I'm sure he removed the connectors and soldered and used heat shrink tubing.

I think I'll use the square tube and the clips. Cutting out the back should work fine.

My extension wires came today. My servos should be here soon.

PropSpinner -> RE: Lanier Radical 330 ARF (2/18/2008 1:19:33 AM)

Working slowly. Mounted the servos and fitted the square tube. Don't have much more to do.

I'm thinking about sealing the gaps in the control surfaces with clear covering.

Has anyone flown yet?

PropSpinner -> RE: Lanier Radical 330 ARF (3/1/2008 1:06:44 PM)

The Radical 330 and Extreme 300 are discontinued now. I was going to pickup another but they are all gone.

I'm still working on mine. Anyone got a progress report?

ekir -> RE: Lanier Radical 330 ARF (3/1/2008 2:21:31 PM)

I should be finished with mine later today or early tomorrow.

I am using an OS 46SF 2 stroke engine. I looks like the engine will be mounted near the front of the rails. This will give me a CG 5 to 5 1/8" from the leading edge of the wing. This is a little aft of the instruction book. I have a feeling that this plane probably will need the aft CG. Any information would be appreciated.

hutchi -> RE: Lanier Radical 330 ARF (3/1/2008 3:07:03 PM)

progress flew about 6 times crashed 3 put all back an having a blast with it tho I'm not great or even good at 3D yet it's all fun. Glad I grabed 2, landing gear sucks bends very easy other than that can take hell of beating great little plane to have an fly. GOOD LUCK AN HAPPY FLYING
