I have been waiting for the T-28 since July 7th but I will be patient. I ordered their F-190 a few weeks ago for a fantastic price and shipping went as predicted by them. The plane arrived with no problems. Parkzone is the turtle on the block here but better they solve a last minute problem then all of us explain to them why are planes bit the dirt.
Still waiting - dszlez

The T-28 looks great in the photo galleries and I too have been waiting for months. I'm beginning to have doubts however with product quality. I've been out of R/C for about 15 years and recently bought a Hobbyzone Super Cub. It was fun but pretty tame. I didn't have one issue with it. I finally gave up waiting on the T-28 because I wanted something to fly (I still have the T-28 on order) so I bought a Stryker F27-C from MyRCSupply. It looks fun and has a nice paint job. But, it arrived with a dinged elevon, a charger that didn't work until I replaced the fuse (try to find a 3Amp Automotive fuse anywhere but an auto parts store), and electronics that are bad (the motor begins stuttering sometimes with full power and the servos flutter). One servo doesn't travel the same distance as the other with the same control input (the same hole on both control horns is being used) and the control arm of this servo is in contact with the foam wing and the servo stalls at various input positions and then jumps to position with further control input.

I've since found that others on RCUniverse have had product quality issues with Parkzone electronics in Strykers and other products and rudder servo failures on the new Cessna 210 Centurian. I also found that some RCUniverse users report the Stryker servos are underpowered to drive the heavy duty elevons. I tend to agree from hearing the servos stall and chatter at various elevon positions when testing in the shop. I've contacted Horizon via email about my Stryker issues but haven't received any satisfactory response to my questions except that I should contact them if I continue to have problems. I've read other posts with RCUniverse members having similar Stryker F27-C motor stuttering and servo flutter issues (ie: loss of control) and the problem was solved with a replacement of the receiver. I did make a big mistake and tried to fly the Stryker at my club. The first 3 minutes were GREAT. Fast, smooth, it looked beautiful in the sky. Two cars stopped on the Highway to watch. After three minues of cruising around I finally felt comfortable to ring it out. Full power and bam, out of control and an impressive aileron rolling dive toward the ground (the plane was about 130 paces from my location when control was lost - I stepped it off later). I cut power and control came back and I saved it. The two friends with me thought I was a heck of a pilot making a manouver like that so close to the ground with a new plane. I had to admit to them it wasn't me but the Stryker showing off on it's own. Before I could land control disappeared again and it dumped nose first from 100' rolling left and right on the way down (I did cut power but I don't know if the receiver responded). I had no control when I hit Cumulus Granite. A tribute to the durability of the foam was a small chunk out of the nose cone and one vertical stab that needed pushed back into position. In retrospect I never should have flown it when I had seen the motor stutter at home but I didn't put potential total loss of control together with the motor stutter. That beautiful new plane looked too good to just sit on the table at home. First off, I never should have taken it to the field because seeing it sitting on the bench made the temptation too great to try it out. Maybe others can learn from my mistake. Ultimately the damage was minimal but the plane turned out to be unsafe to fly in it's condition. Thankfully only my ego was injured (my first uncontrolled landing in a long time).

How do you guys handle the receipt of products that have so many issues upon arrival? The Policy Statements at MyRCSupply basically says if you open the box we aren't responsible for anything unless you can determine the product is defective prior to using it (ie: fueling a tank (does charging the battery count)). This seems unfair (you can't always determine something is defective prior to using it) but I guess I should have read the policy closer before I bought anything. I've also found that the manufacturer (Horizon) seems to want you to return the entire product if you need warrenty service. The shipping charges ($10 each way plus the time involved) will be close to what the replacement part would cost (a new receiver is somewhere around $30) plus there's the time involved in shipping it, fixing it and getting it back.

With all of the Stryker problems I'm wondering if I'm making a mistake to continue waiting for the T-28? I've also got a DX7 on order and I'm questioning that decision. Does the DX7 have issues too? I didn't think so because I've read posts from lots of DX7 owners and about great customer service from Horizon but again now I have doubts. I haven't experienced great customer service so far.

WildBlueYwander,

There is no question there have been some defective products shipped by Parkzone. However, I do feel they are a small percentage from the total shipped. Just my opinion -- nothing to back it up.

I fly a Stryker 27B and now also a Stryker 27C. Both in stock form. The 27B has been through quite a few crashes but I was able to glue everything back together and it still flies great. The 27C I have been flying since a month or so after they came out and other than some of the black paint on the nose coming off, there is not a scratch on it.

I also have a Typhoon and a J-3 Cub. The original servos (rudder and elevator) on the Typhoon stripped after a couple of unintended cartwheels. They were replaced with HS81's. Still using original aileron servos.

I have also been waiting on the T-28 Trojan. But, this time, I am going to wait a couple of months until there are bunch of them flying without any problems. I also don't like the continued delays on their original shipment.

I still haven't heard from HorizonHobby about my Stryker problems but I may have good news about support from MyRCSupply. I've had no direct contact from them in response to my email concerning problems but in reviewing my pending orders today I see that they are preparing another Stryker to ship to me. We'll see what happens. They never acknowledged or replied to my email so it really surprised me to see the new pending shipment.

If they are shipping another Stryker it will definitely make me feel better about ordering more Parkzone products if they're willing to stand behind them.

I shipped a battery back to them because one of the wires on the charging plug came loose. They shipped me a new one right away.
Unless they detect some abuse by users, they will always treat you right.

MyRCSupply.COM has turned out to be an excellent place to buy hobby supplies from and I doubt if you'll find better prices anywhere else. I've had some issues but Benjamin Dylan (the owner of MyRCSupply) has made sure that every issue I've had has been addressed. He's sent several lengthy messages to me answering my questions in detail and making sure I'm taken care of. He even tried to call me today but unfortunately I missed the call. I can highly recommend them based on what's happened so far.

As for the T-28 I see that it isn't the first time buyers have waited for months for a new Horizon product. I was researching the Parkzone Typhoon today (considering purchase) and I see the exact same type of messages (ie: why is it delayed again, my LHS says it should be here and it still isn't, why didn't they put a realistic release date out there, I've been waiting all summer and I could have bought something else, etc). I guess it's a trend to announce release dates that turn into delays, but the buyers seemed to be happy when they finally received the Typhoon so hopefully we'll all be happy when we finally receive the T-28.

One Typhoon buyer noted that we adults can sound pretty childish about our toys. I'll have to agree with that. "Boo hoo, I want my Parkzone T-28".

Yeah. It's been mid-October for about 4 weeks now. Some retailers didn't change their release dates (like RedRocket Hobbies) but some did (including Parkzone). I have high hopes however because usually by now they would have pushed it back again. Fingers crossed!!

Ha Ha someone has jokes

Ok, to get on the serious side, I think that My Rc Supply my have got there hands spanked by Parkzone. If you check back in the post you will see that the RTF kit was under $170 but, now the price is set at $219 on the site. So, if you are one of the people who pre-ordered under that lower price you are lucky. There are more prices to other items that I will not bring up do to cross threading have also came up in price.

The T-28 was made and later modified by North American Aviation. It started as a trainer for the Air Force and Navy and went on to equip numerous air forces. It's first nickname was Trojan. Armed T-28s in U.S. service are officially Nomads. The French used T-28s in North Africa flying with the designation Fennec.

T-28 versions I've found that served:

T-28A USAF Pilot Training
T-28B Navy Pilot Training
T-28C Navy Carrier Training
T-28D USAF Counter Insurgency
T-28D-5 USAF Counter Insurgency
T-28D5 Group II USAF Counter Insurgency
T-28D-10 USAF Counter Insurgency
T-28S Fennec French Counter Insurgency
YAT-28 Unsuccessful Test

If you planning on painting you T-28 these pic's will help!

I am usually a P51 mustang fan but I must say for some reason I really like the looks of this plane. I like the big opening in the front also I guess where the engine sits. I sure am glad I preordered and locked in on that sweet price
