glowfuel -> QUESTION: Castor=More Smoke? (2/21/2003 3:21:21 AM)

I have a .40 2 cycle engine. Currently run 10% nitro w/ 16% castor. How much smoke would be emitted if I raised the total castor % to 22% (which is approx. where I should be)
Don't want to add a smoke system. I understand that I will loose a little nitro in the process. Any help will be appreciated and welcomed.

You'll see a little more smoke trail but nothing excessive and you won't lose any nitro. Remember that when you tune the engine you're only setting the volume of nitro/methanol that goes through the engine each cycle. If you add more oil to the mix then you have to open the needle slightly to get back that original nitro/methanol volume.

Wrong! The needles control the volume of fluid passing thru them if you add oil the percentage of burnable fuel is less therefore your engine will be lean with the same settings . No harm -just have to adjust for it.
