outacontrol41 - sorry I missed the Pawnee.

But for some real power I think this is what were talking about With the 100"+ AirTractor 802F and a full load of slurry it would more then likely still rip the wings off

Here is where I found the picture on the DuraLite site: Wren Turbo Prop Motor . It will only set you back $4995

Over my head. Waaaay over my head. I'd sooner put a Robart radial on my Ag Cat before I forked money over for that. Nice though.

True enough.......the man at RCGUYS says they've got a rolling start on the Ag Wagon and the Super Chipmunk.............the reason we're doing this is to try and sway the process toward the Ag Wagon.......at least thats my choice. If they come out with an Ag Plane that looks half as good as their Decathlon, it will be a run-a-way. How could you not want one.........I'm dreamin about it already.........

I wrote to Dan twice now. Once about the Decathlon and now about the AgWagon. Both times he responded next day. These guys are active and obviously take their customers and potential customers seriously. An A+ for that.....try that with the Dave Patrick Models company. He said that the prototype of the Ag Wagon will be finished during mid summer with the idea of having it available by Christmas. This seems a long time to wait for it but what's a few months? Gives us a chance to save our money up to buy it and furthermore, think of schemes how to spread dust or spray instead of just flying around. Start gathering your photo references so you can scale it out.

They're still gonna do the Chipmunk, too? Hopefully after the AgWagon comes out!

that is great to hear! it's always good customer services when a person at least gets a response back. sometimes the simplest things make all the difference. sometimes they don't always have an answer but keeping in communication is the best way to retain the respect of your customers.
any idea on the wingspan it would be or weight?

hope to see a prototype in a few months, that would be awesome! then people really would have a hard time waiting after they saw it i'm sure!

Wow, thats great.........you know more than I do. When I talked to him he didn't say anything about actually rolling one out........it was just that an Ag Plane was on their minds too and the prelims on the Ag Wagon had been done as well as a Super Chipmunk.
I figured at best we had a 50/50 chance of seeing something in the next year. So from what you've heard its a sure thing then?..................You mean I actually need to start an Ag Wagon fund with a target date for 0 balance around January 2008 or so?

If thats the case.........need more info.........Dan must have an idea of actual Wing span, ready to fly weight, engine requirements, etc. ..........And the color scheme........you can't underestimate the importance of the color scheme on the overall success of this airframe. As you can see, a lot of interest already; guaging by the number of hits we're getting. A snazzy, true to life color scheme could double the initial sales easily. It has to be close to Scale and it has to be pretty...............you know its going to fly great so we don't even have to go there........and of course quality is a must. We all recoil a little when we let loose of the cash, but when the box(s) arrive and we open them and examine the contents........that gentlemen............is when we know it was a wise decision, and we begin to visualize the joy it will bring to us.......and......the looks of envy it will bring to the faces of our buddies.........ah yes........the true joy of RC.

So, it sounds like some friendly, supportive e-mails to Dan at RCGUYS wouldn't hurt a thing..........and............maybe some actual pictures of real live Ag Wagon color schemes that you would like to see duplicated on the thousands of 1/4 Scale Ag Wagons that will be flying at RC air fields around the world next summer.

Can't think of the e-mail at this exact moment, but the web site is easy...www.RCGUYS.com The e-mail address is there.

You've made my day..................just think.............a 1/4 scale Ag Wagon in my hangar sitting next to the Stinger, Super Stearman and the Decathlon...........

Life is Good..............................

I believe this will work for e-mail........info@rcguys.com@aol.com

roknhs,

Heh, heh !! Okay, calm down. Take a minute to wipe your chin...you're probably drooling . Yes it's true and Dan did not tell me to keep it a secret so I figured I'd spill the beans here. I can tell this project is in the eary, early stages but as of right now - as far as I know by the email sent to me, it's a sure thing. Yes I'm drooling, too at this point.
He did not disclose any more information to me as far as wingspan, weight or the like so we'll have to patiently wait and see what they come up with. In Dan's own written words " it's the one I was hoping to build" as he's speaking of the Ag Wagon as favored over the Chipmunk.
As I said, it looks like a sure thing. But, that being said, don't let up on your enthusiasm to see this come to fruitation. Minds can be changed for whatever reason. So I say to you all reading this thread....cast your vote and voice your opinion here or directly to RC Guys website. If we show there's a strong potential market for this new product by speaking out, we can't go wrong. Then the only thing left to do is keep your word and follow up with a AgWagon sale from RC Guys. Heck, get a spare, too. I know I will.

WELL THEN!!! This is getting better by the post!!

I was cruising the forums for a NIB ARF or Kit of something that would keep me busy...but i will wait now and save my $$ for this wagon. more importantly save for the engine that would go in it!!
I think it is also very cool to have a company in Canada producing some great models. gotta support the local business!
I am in the process of finishing my AT502 and hopefully will have it flying this summer. better get busy!!

please keep us posted RCGUYS of any new developments.

cheers

Well, your home grown RCGUYS are getting great press on the airframes they have out on the market now.........I can see it getting better with the intro of this Ag Wagon.
I know I've seen some Brits and Aussies on the crop duster thread......wonder where they are now.......they better get in here and help us fan the flames a little. Dang, what are we gonna do to pass the time while this plane is taking shape? ????????

Well, I'm working on a 108'' 1/4 scale Piper Pawnee from Dick Grahm plans redrawn by Tom Martin of TMRC. By the time I get this plane done it will be time to open my new shiny box from Canada.

Question to all: How long have RC Guys been around? What's their story? They seem to be on the road to success by kitting airplanes that are not in the mainstream but still popular. Example: Decathlon and aerobatic Cessna 150. Mainstream: Cubs, Caps and Extras. There are so many companies out ther specializing in these that it's totally overwheming. I won't list them....you know who they are. Then the big companies try to compete with them (Horizon, Great Planes, Lanier, etc.) and the market is flooded with these dime a dozen planes. Thank goodness for the little guys that break away and try to do something different like our friends in Canada. Again, I say lets support them so that we can possibly sway their decision into building something we really want...something different.

Now, somebody step up and answer the above questions.

I'm afraid I can't answer the question about RCGuys, but I like your point about some of these smaller kit builders who are out there. I really hope we can all help support them. Here is a cool "For Example" I found while looking for the pictures to post of the different Ag planes from one of the above posts. While looking for a good picture of AirTractor's 802F, I saw a new link on the Full Scale AirTractor's Home Page called Fun Stuff. Apparently AirTractor is so impressed with Duane Habet's AirTractor kits that they've added him to their Fun Page. Pictures of Duane with one of his Kits, and if I was guessing it was down in Texas at AirTractor's factory. Here is the link to the page - AirTractor - Fun Page. AirTractor has also put all of the 3 view drawings with dimensions on this page for us to use.

As far as the AgWagon, I'm hoping it's something in at least the 73+" WS (IMAA legal would be nice). Something with around a 160 2-stroke to 180 4-stroke or even an Evo 23GT.

Scale and the right color scheme are also right up there at the top as mentioned above.

I vote for the Agwagon, and would get one in a heart beat if 1/4 scale ARF.
