Hey wdratsloper,

what engine is that I see next to the cowl? I have still not made the final determination on engine for mine.

Thanks

Brown Airplane truck came to my house today. I'll have to say my first impression was disapointment! Disapointment that I could NOT have done any better at packaging this model, and I'm good. It'll be a while before I get to start the build, got to finish a TF P-51, but I'm going to follow the thread that has already started. BJ

Well, I arrived home and SURPRISE!!!!!! I had a big brown box waiting on me! Unfortunately, when I opened it the canopy had been cracked. Gotta love UPS! Hopefully RCguys can file a claim on it. Other than that, this is one beautiful airplane! I am REALLY impressed with the quality. She's a beauty. Way to go Dan and RCguys! You really did come thru for us with a great ARF!!!! I can't thank you enough!

John,
I'm going to run a Zenoah G45, since I have plenty of spare parts from my "Late Taxi 2400". It had a battery failure, but sure had fun dropping my sons RC Skydiver a few times.

Sorta looks like this when the UPS guy must sit on it for lunch break? One of those Gorilla Porters in the old Sampsonite luggage commercials. I've had a lot of claims on UPS over tha years. Very nicely done aircraft. Got it yesterday. First ARF I have not had to iron out wrinkles. This one is going to be fun to build and fly. Worked on it till 2:am. All checks out ok. Had to do a little sand to fit the fuse on the Verticle stab front dorsal fairing piece. will mount the Sv-26cc gas engine and cowling tonite. This thing goes together fast. Wow 5" wheels.

Got a chance to pull some of it out of the wrapping. Canopy had a little damage that may be removed when the door is modified to open. Can't really tell, don't seem to be able to find the building manual. Is there one? BJ

I installed the tail wheel assembly on mine. The angle of the bracket doesn't match the bottom of the fuselage. I had to make a small wedge to fill the gap. The bottom of the fuselage is balsa. Even with CA, the screws won't hold. I stripped some covering and glued the bracket and the wedge to the fuselage. Nice and sturdy now. Bending the tail wheel wire isn't as easy as it looks either. I think they could have come up with a better quality tail wheel.

I don't know what kind of covering the white is, but it is impossible to strip it off the balsa. The yellow stuff strips ok, but not the white.

I also replaced the wheels. The ones that come with the kit are solid foam. I fly off a dry lake bed and the foam wheels don't hold up.

I haven't gotten to the wings yet, but the plane looks good, but typical Chinese construction. I would rather paid 20% more and got higher quality parts and construction.

I'm putting an Evolution 26GT2 in it. That should be pleanty of power.

On the tail wheel, I reamed the hole out in the black plastic bracket where the tail wheel rod goes through, elongating the hole front to back and that brought the angle back into perspective to the fuselage. It works fine and there is no slop in the hole because the two holes in the wood (fuselage) hold the rod from front to back. We'll see when the plane actually lands. Seems OK for now.

I thought about doing that, but decided against it. The puts all the force on the rudder if you land hard on the tail wheel.
I used the wedge to keep it level and put a wheel coller on the tail wheel brack below the plastic bracket. That way the braclet is taking the weight, not the rudder. Probably 6 of 1 1/2 doz of the other.

MUSICCITYFAN,

My wife called me just before I got to work on Wednesday and told me that the Big Brown Prize Truck had just left ma a huge box, something about a 188 ag something. When I arrived back home Thursday morning, I found a well done fuse, wings and tail section but to my dismay there was a hole in the canopy where the landing gear had loosened during shipment and found its way there. If it had been in the forward part of the canopy, I would have said it was a scale 'bird strike', but it is behind the pilot (maybe an Eagle strike?). A call to Dan and a new canopy will be on it's way Wednesday. Looks great, Hope it flys that way Too!!!!!Travis..

The wheel rod still rests against the bracket, it's just the hole is realigned. The wheel collar idea is a good one!!!
Another brown truck sighting? Wow, if this keeps up, we'll have Agwagons all over the place.
