Status: offline 		Jeez, I'm not sure what is going on here, but I just measured from the leading edge to the wing tube on mine and it is 170mm! Forward of that is a panel line which comes in around the 140mm as I said above. I have balanced mine at 115-120mm which is way aft of the 95mm they say in the instructions.

Status: offline 		Can anyone comment on the final weight of these birds? The specs suggest its on the heavy side for its size - are these really heavy birds or what? They look great...I haven't seen another sea fury this pretty.

Status: offline 		I did the same thing. The spar is 170 mm not 120mm. Now I am not sure what to do. I have flown mine with it balanced per the instructions 95mm but had to add about 1.5 - 2 pounds of dead weight to make it balance properly. I am at about 13 pounds in total. Can anyone do the science on this bird and tell us the balance point? I would really love to distch this weight if I can.

I decided to go for broke and removed the 1.5 pounds of dead weight I needed to get her to balance at 95MM. Then I came to my senses and only removed 1 pound and took her the field. GUESS WHAT she flew like a dream. That's not entirelly true, but it flew so much better than before. I am confident that I can remove at least another 3/4 pound of lead to this plane and fly it just fine. The CG the post in the instructions are NOT accurate. Again for clarification the are NOT accurate. I am balancing it tonight at 130mm and going to have a blast tomorrow at the field for the first time in 6 months with thei plane. Pisses my off that TT has the audacity to ask me to pay 380.00 for a plane like this and then give me the wrong CG.

Please don't take my word for it, but for the sake of your landing gear do NOT balance at 95MM....it is just way to nose heavy and will destroy your retract mounts on the first hard landing. I reinforced mine wiht carbon fiber plate on the top and bottom and then douced it all with Gorilla Glue....wing will break before the landing gear.

Good luck I will keep you posted on anything new but PLEASE keep this thread alive because frankly there are NO other threads on the september fury or sea fury out there that are worth a damn.

Status: offline 		It will depend on your engine but I would easily start at 122mm and then decide. I am taking it out again today at 130mm. I will let you guys know how it went, but I can tell you that it will be so much more enoyable in flight with the cg moved further back. Also, lets all start sharing some pixs of these birds. I will post a few on mine tonight.

I thought I would post some pictures of my newly finished and test flown TT Sea Fury. It's built mostly out of the box with a few extra details (retracable tail wheel, shock struts, etc). I'm running a geared 1515/2y Neumotor on 10s lipos swinging a 16x14 5-bladed prop. The airplane looks and flies great. 2 flights so far.

@ DVM100, what did you use to cover up the stripes on the bottom of your wings for the VR930? I'd like to locate some of that covering as I would also like to add the VR930 to the bottom of the wings.

also can you post some pics of the e-set up , I am thinking of doing a PlattD9 as eletric but dont want to go with a two battery set up , would like to see yours .

that looks fantastic with the 5blades so sea fury if you know what i mean.
just a bit glossy& shinny for my likening used to fly mine clean till my mate nagged me to try weathering I'm not very good at it but sures brings it to life though,
just love the flying shots could almost hear the Centaurus just think how she be with a sound system in.

@ LDM, I've attached a couple pics. They are the best I have at the moment. Let me know if there is something in particular you would like to see. I did have to add some nose weight, but not really that much (6 oz maybe?). I'm using two 5s1p 5000 mah packs connected in series. I use 6mm bullet connectors, so with the packs side by side in the fuse (all the way forward), it's very easy to connect them in series by just taking the positive from one pack to the negative on the other...it's a bit tougher (and more of a pain) if using Dean's plugs. A Platt D9 sounds like a great project! The D9 would be my second favorite warbird...behind the sea fury of course.

@ Lightning, I hear you on the high gloss. I've been contemplating hitting it with a flat clear to tone it down a bit and adding some weathering. We'll see. A sound system would be pretty cool...the airplane sounds cool as it is based on the prop noise. It's quiet too.

I actually have two seperate chargers (Shulze chameleon chargers) that I use to charge each of the packs individually. With the Astro, you'll need to do the same by charging the packs individually. Only with a charger/balancer setup where the two talk with each other can charge the two packs as one. Generally speaking, it takes about 45 min to an hour to charge each pack at a 1c charge rate. That being said, I'd recommend when you get to that point picking up a second charger as it will save you quite a bit of time. I have 2 sets of packs that I usually charge the night before and will usually recharge at least one set at the field if I'm having a good day.

I wonder, with the weight needed, do you think you could place a gas 26 or the zenoah 20ei in this ?

Status: offline 		Justin I dont think the 20ei is big enought . I bought it for my CMP hellcat as a replacement for a Saito 125 suggested by horison , however I think the G26 is more suited for a replacemnet of a saito 125 to 140 .
Fact that the G20ei is used in many Hanger 9 birds that fly easily on siato 100, shows that the G20ei is maxed at in the 16/8 range prop

You may be hard pressed to find an ARF Sea Fury in that size. As it is, there seem to be very few Sea Fury's out there in general. Jerry Bates has a very nice set of plans for the Sea Fury at about 82" wing span. Laser and glass parts are available for it...but, it's a do-it-yerself ARF.

Thank you for the sugestion about engine selection..

From what I have seen in the picts, the fuse on the plane looks fantastic.


Is it possible for somone to take a picture of themselves holding the plane?
This would help very much with the size relation...... (I have not seen one of these in person, or any of the Rare bear, BearcatTT aircrafts)
