I think it looks pretty sweet and I'm thinking that it had a lot of input from some of the RCC guys.
The battery location does need to be moved. They should off the smaller packs on the axle that we run instead of the stick sub c's.
But they have to start somewhere.

I still prefer to build them from scratch. But will get one and add a VS or Shaft to it.

EDIT: just noticed they listed the suspension as a 3 link.? and the chassis is 10" thinking they mean the track width.
I'd like to see the specs more detailed. Tranny demensions, Chassis demension.
It's cool they also have the aluminum links. Wonder if they will make them green like that.

Looks like I'll be making a call at lunch today.

Finally a crawler with all the pieces in one box. I've been waiting for something like this to come out. Except for the battery location, which I can relocate it looks, this may just be the way to go. I preordered one just in case they go like hot cakes when they come out. I preordered here if anyone is interested. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=69131

its nice that someone is bringing out a crawling kit, it might not be as good a custom made crawlers but it will be a good begineer truck which will help u decide if u like crawling or not.

I'm really surprised that this thread isnt 20 pages long yet!!!
To me this seems like big news in the rock crawling world.
I'd have to say they did their homework and the scorpion should be a very capable crawler.
I would also think the scorpion will bring many new people into the crawling aspect of the hobby!!
Great job Axial

Why there aren't 20 pages?

I think I have got the answer for you. Another pretty popular crawling site, I refer them as the green carwlers, are all vendors themselves, bunch of freinds that like to monopolize the crawling market. If it's built by one of them, then it is considered the best and you will see pages after pages of nice comments and reviews and how good it is to own, basically promoting their brand. If, it is not made by one of them, they would see it as a threat to their market and therefore, they don't say anything regarding the new item.

I have heard they play dirty during the competitions that every now and then they host as well, by taking sides of their freinds again.

You go in there and say something bad about one of their products, they would want to take you head of for saying so. I don't recommend you to stop visiting their site, but just wanted to warn you about some of their poor manners aren't accepted by all.

It is pretty useful site for tips on building things, and there are nice poeple in there willing to help, but then, there are the other types as well.

I personally decided to go with the tube chassis and by doing so, not only I save $, but I enjoy running my hand built rig as well.

See ya.

Not necessarily true.

The Scorpion is produced by AXIAL Racing.

While I'm sure that Axial has contacts on RCC and they may indeed be friends, it hasn't prevented honest opinions from being expressed about it on RCC.

That being said, the reception of the Scorpion has been mixed at best on RCC. Many have welcomed it, others don't like the idea of it in any way

IMO, as long as it isn't a RTR, I'm cool w/ it.

I welcome any new products into the crawling market. Whether this will be a huge hit or a flop is to be seen. The strength of the axle shafts and diff will play a big role in how well it does. I will certainly want to test one out.

RCC protects its vendors, that is for sure. They do not allow unwarranted vendor bashing, which seems to be the only issues that arise where strings have to be pulled. When a vendor has real business problems, no favorites are played. Any website that has vendors should protect them from untrue statements.

As far as RCC being run by vendors, the owners have no stake in the market itself. They do not produce products, nor do they review them. It is true that the site has a large amount of vendors, it is the HUB for RC crawling! Of course it will have all kinds of vendors wanting to protect their market share! I have NEVER seen an honest review deleted because it was negative though. I would never want to see that happen.

I agree with you regarding your comment that rcc protects its vendors, but what I am wondring is how come no one from rcc has made a desent comment on this new kit? I know the answer. Becasue they see it as a competition and they probably don't even allow a thread to start in the green forum regarding the RTR kit. Don't you agree with me on this?

The point I am trying to make here is to promot crawling in these fourms and treat each vendor equally. Bashing new comers, weather vendors, or new memebers is just a sickening trend and needs to be stopped.

Here is my idea. Agree or disagree?

I agree and disagree. My opinion is that most people have withheld comments because they have not used it or seen it. I have handled the proto and therefore have an opinion on it. Maybe there is a thread on RCC I missed where people are bashing the AX10? I could see the common crawler having strong feelings for it (without use of said product), but most vendors know better than to give opinions before testing.

As far as RCC banning a thread about the AX10- if it turned into a train wreck I could see it being deleted. No need in speculation giving the crawler a bad name before it even hits the market. That would be protecting Axial, and preventing untrue rumors.

Having said that-- A RTR crawler does take a lot of the fun and charm out of crawling. I like building just as much (or more than) crawling, and that is why crawling interests me so. The kit will still hit the spot for many people though- sometimes I dont even have enough time to fab up a crawler and a kit like this would have been very nice to have.

Vendors Bashing other vendors is a subject that I can wholly agree on though. Nothing gets my goat more than one vendor bashing another. Check out the lipo section of RCG for all kinds of that fun! If one vendor decides to take another down, he is only bringing himself and the hobby down with him. Totally uncalled for and I can agree 100%. This has happened a few times on RCC but the Mods were quick to move the thread to a hidden vendor section for them to duke it out.

Crawling goods are always a sensitive topic. Everybody has their own opinion on what works best, and many are VERY passionate about the hobby (my long winded response here might indicate me ). When a new product comes along there is a good chance that a vocal few will voice objections and crits. Im trying to keep my tongue in my mouth on this particular product until the release, because the proto I saw and the production version will not be exactly the same. I pointed out a few weaknesses and they were changed.

Well all this may be true. But I have seen a lot of people turned off by the fact that they have to buy so many different parts and conversions and what not!! This kit good or bad will bring people into the crawling scene and at least give them a taste of what its all about and if they really enjoy it may be driven to build a better crawler at some point.

1. does the ax10 scorpion have 4 wheel turning in the crab like style and same arch style sorry for the terms but I do not know he correct words to use ? I see it uses only a 2 channel radio I assume it only uses standard turning.

2. I have a nitro t maxx is it possible or practical to switch it over to electric ?

3. the ax 10 looks to very good, what is another starter "crawler truck" ?

I called the factory on the scorpion and they answered my questions, as most of you already know all I need to do is add a addional servo to make this rig 4 whell steering and I guess I need a 3 channel radio to make it crab crawl. Anyway I have one on order
Thanks guys
