I have had several Futaba 3305 servos that have the same problem-after sitting for a while, like over the winter, they act "draggy", don't respond immediately. Its like a delayed reaction, but sometimes their response is normal. The first one was on a pull pull for N-28 for rudder. It started moving in slow motion, check for binding but all was fine. Replaced with 3305 and so far all is ok. Now on the dual elevator setup, one is much slower than the other. Both pushrods are as free as can be. Replace these with 3001s and all is fine.
Friend of mine has had same problem with 2-3305s, they acted basically the same way, sluggish, slow moving.
I know these servos are not reccomended for airplanes, but lots of flyers use them, and Futaba customer service on their forum, say its ok to use in airplanes. Any suggestions as to what could be causing the same type failure??

I have also tested them on the bench after removing from plane and same odd behavior is still there. What's scary is that its not consistent once it starts acting strange, you might move it 10 times, and 9 are ok.
I am thinking about switching out these 3305s, but I have about 6-8 in 1/4 scale planes, seems a shame to waste that much $$, if a solution is out there.

sounds like the pots need cleaning. Alot of electronics if they sit will build up corrosion.

Good idea-I have replaced gears in servos, but have not cleaned any electronics-always avoided that circuit board in bottom. I did a search but did not come up with anything on pot cleaning. Has anyone posted a method for cleaning them??

I have this same question. Ive replace 5 of 7 futaba s3010 ht servos this year. their is a little hole on the top of this pot. if I could just find a lubricent, cleaner or something to spray into here I might be able to save some money!

You appear to be holding the motor. The pot element is above your index finger.

I know this ... The pot is held on by 3 small wires and very bendable. dont really want to be holding it. electronic cleaner from radio shack helped a little bit. I just think futaba 3305 servos are junk! (if you let them sit to long they turn to crap) On the far side of this it could just be about winter storage.this perticular plane and servos sit on the cement floor in the basement. I did notice this servo doesnt have a rubber seal for weather or dust like some servos have. maybe a higher storage my help. Ive also had carbs sieze from winter storage. Basements are usually damp and reap havoc on things.
