Sorry to go a tad off toipc here, but look up Husqvarna industries and you'll be amazed at all the things they've manufactured over the years.
They actually started out making rifles in the late 1600's(!) and the list of things goes on.
Sewing machines, kitchen appliances, bicycles, motorbikes and of course gardening and forestry equipment.

Ok, back to the dragster.

hey all,
not much going on with this, I tried a new inlet manifold - I know there are no air leaks in this - possibly I might be sucking air in thru the crank seals......not 100% sure yet.
I have to go & see a mate owns an RC shop to sus out gyro assisted steering (like Knobby's jet job) just as an added insurance....
everything else works fine...just these damn motor problems[>:]

44cc Poulan saw motor

Bigmodman, if you're reading this, can you show/post the guys here what you found at the RC boat site for pipe designer?
a valuable tool, I thought.

first off, at 77lbs, your way under powered, that 44cc is'nt worth the headache your having with it, if I were you, I'd chase down a Solo 90cc, you could go bigger, but our track limit for a 1/4 scale dragster is a 90.
here is a quick pic of a Solo 90cc head I am doing now for my dragster, I have compared the head to a 26cc Zenoah cylinder for size reference.
Anyway, keep up the good work.

thanks, but a 90 would be nice for anyone......you gonna give me one?
This thing won't be following any rules either.
If I can "find" another motor (whatever the size), I'd try it. You see, this one was free, so I thought what the hell, it couldn't hurt trying.

Either way, I'll work it out..eventually.

As for under powered, well, on the shakedown test I managed, it goes well enough, thanks.

that will probably end up "the plan"
finding a big saw isn't the problem
finding a big saw for nix (or next to nix) that will be the challenge

thanks all

Stick a couple of ads in your local small ads papers.
There's heaps of old saws gathering dust in people's sheds.

well guys, I'm hanging up the boots.
There's been engine problems one after the other,
Too much time spent at work, so this lil' toy will go on the shelf while the brain comes up with something else.

It's been a pleasure talking to you all (except for one goose)
Keep on keeping on with your home brew jobs, and enjoy it all.

Might see you round the traps in the future.

PS I have a new thing to keep my spare time totally consumed, but it's not RC.

Goodbye.

Your car is fantastic, don't give up!, get the motor where you want and add some Nitrous! It keeps it fun every time you make a pass!
Here is my custom built dragster from wing to wing measuring in at 8ft with 90cc Solo motor on pump gas and NOS and New era rear end.
The funny car is 100% stock, no NOS yet!

Anyway Keep at it! Don't let that dragster just sit on the shelf, it was built to RUN!

Hi All,
I have kept the 'rail on the shelf. Can't bring myself to sell it off. I think the main engine problem is sucking in air thru the crank seals at such high RPM; as this motor was NEVER designed to pull 17,280 RPM

So it's on the shelf until i finish project #2.

One day I can re-visit this and solve the problems; once I have some more experience under my belt. Don't worry I will NEVER give up.

In the meantime here's what has been distracting me from RC stuff

A 1937 Dodge D5 sedan

1983 Jag XJ6 front & rear suspension, Toyota Aristo front seats, 1991 Aussie Holden VN Calais 5.0 L V8 + electrics/ECU + A/C + pwr windows + cruise control + climate control + bluetooth + reverse camera +....................well you get it - full -on poverty pack inside. Jag rear seat, Headwinds headlamps,

and a serious attitude.

Looked at some Frankenstein figures on fleabay tonite to see if I can stick a little figure on the dashboard........Dodge-en-stein

as it's gonna be green. Same as a Holden colour called Atomic Green.

Cheers, Mudgy.
