My RS4 is equipped with the Nitro Star 18SS. The problem is that even though the RPM, when the car is idleing, are very low, the wheels just wont stop spinning. It just wants to go forward. If I lower the RPM even more, using the idle screw, it'll just die.

Why are the wheels spinning? Do I have it tuned the wrong way or something?

Clutch springs need replacing. Prob got at least one broken one in there.

He's already said that with the idle set so low it stalls, the wheels still move, how can it be the idle trim? It's definitely the clutch. Can't be anything else.

Anyway, it's not a tuning issue.

My guess is its his LSN, too lean will make it rev higher, no matter how you set your idle. Richen your LSN 1/4 and then let it run around the block for a minute to let the new settings kick-in. Let it idle and see if its still revs high and creeps up

Next would be the clutch then maybe an airleak.

If the engine speed is low enough at idle, which I'm assuming it is, then it's a constant and the problem must lie somewhere between the crankshaft and the wheels. I second the clutch motion, check it out.

If the engine is actually idling, not revving, then it would be a clutch problem.

One of the Clutch springs was just a bit looser than the other. I'm not sure if that would make such a big difference, but since I had a new set, I replaced everything.

Anyone has one of these?

Is this a good upgrade?

I had one of those on my Racer 2, didn't really like it, but it is easier to adjust when the clutch engages with it. I guess I just like having three clutch shoes, and I never really adjust my engagement time on my touring car.

Yes its a good upgrade compared to the stock clutch shoes. Just set it to mid-point engagement (the middle hole). It made a big noticable difference compared to the stock clutch. Taking off feels alot tighter and launches your car like a missile

If he is winding out the idle and the revs are dropping until it stalls (as he said), it's got nothing to do with trim. This has been suggested AND discounted earlier in this very thread.

So, you replaced the springs, the clutch shoes looked ok? Not too much build up of crap on the inside of the clutch bell? What happened then, was the problem resolved?

The clutch shoes looked just fine, but I thought since I opened everything up, I might as well replace them too. Like I said, one of the 2 springs was a bit loose. So before I install the new shoes/springs set, I squeezed the new springs to make them even tighter. I'll give it a try on Sunday at the track and update this thread.

From reading his orginal post, this would be the logical thing to do. Even electric cars will roll with no throttle if the throttle trim isnt set right.

Sorry for not replying earlier. The problem was solved with the new springs. Now is very convenient. I can play with my idle rpm as much as I want and the car wont move unless I push the throttle. I guess every once in a while, those springs loose their power and must be replaced.

You should have bought a racing clutch instead, it will last you alot longer than the stock clutch and improve performance
