I'm not sure there are any .12 aircraft engines available. However a .15 uses the same space. I would look at to OS .15LA engines unless you really want to spend money and go fast then get the OS .15 CV-A. The plane would likely fly on a pair of .10 LA's but I think you would only be marginally powered for the 4 LB model. Any of these three engines I have listed will fit in your plane. Give us a flight report when you get her in the air. Good luck and I hope this helps.

I've got the same P-38 model and agree that a pair of OS 10's would probably do, but for the $10 more or less extra per engine the 15's might be the better choice. Mine happens to be electric, and using the manufacturers suggested electric motors and speed controls that just happen to be their own in Richmodel/Richmoto the cost per engine/speed control combination is about $75. That's not a whole lot more than the OS 15's, but unless you're already "into electrics" you're going to have to buy LiPo batteries and a charger.

Suddenly your $100 P-38 winds up being $400 ready to fly!

That being said, I've recently been flying another twin engine plane....not sure as I bought it at a swap meet and am told I'm the third owner....but I think it is a Goldberg Skylark that was built as a twin. The previous owners used OS 25's, I decided that a new pair of SuperTigre 34's would be a lot more "bang for the buck" and so fitted them. Haven't had an engine out situation yet, but if and when it does I'm not so sure it isn't going to be ugly. Very ugly!

I weighed the odds for the P-38 whether to go electric or glow, and electric seemed to be a much better choice. With a pair of LiPo batteries wired together in parallel across the wing each speed control/motor combination is receiving the same amount of voltage throughout the flight. Other than a malfunction, I don't expect to see one of the engines hitting the low voltage cut out before the other one does. I don't have to synchronize the engines on the full throttle setting and I surely don't have to adjust linkages to get the mid range the same on both glow engines as with my other twin.

And I don't have to clean it up at the end of the day!

Good points. i do like not cleaning the plane. I have a feeling that the cleaning I do will involve impacted dirt.
