Just finished mine tonight which I bought from Dennis when he was still based in Boca Raton. Gonna try for a maiden tomorrow and will post pics. It came out to 13.3 lbs (heavy) and is finished like John Lilberg's red Extra. I'm really nervous about the Moki and would appreciate any suggestions as to a good gas motor to use in it's place. I hate the idea of paying for glow fuel and it seems that Moki's from this period can be tempermental.

FYI...Dennis Kirby and his wonderful wife Debby (a.k.a. Edith) of Kirby's Kustom Vinyl Graphics supplied the graphics and without a doubt are about the nicest people I've ever met. Despite backlogged orders, doctor's appointments, and preparations for Joe Nall in full swing they took the time to meet with me at their home to work out the bling for my long dormant project. Absolutely the BEST!

Here are a couple of shots from today.

I maiden'd it without the cowl to ensure the engine had sufficient cooling which turns out wasn't needed as well as adding a significant pitch-down moment. On the next two flights I installed the cowl which resulted in zero trim needed. It has some belly-down rudder coupling which I mixed out. I'm obviously still figuring things out but it flies great and it's wonderful to finally finish after having it in my basement for so long. Great plane!

Hello,

Your extra looks good. I still haven't test flown mine yet. Where did you balance yours?

Right at the location shown on the plans. Worked perfectly. Remember to do it with the tank empty. Lots of fuel could mean a big CG change as it burns off.
