Keep it simple and stupid!
Strictly following a123 specifications:
- buy a CCCV power unit (I use a 20amps 50volts from Tanic)
- set max current to 3amps per cell (or 10amp for fast charge)
- set max voltage to 3.6volts per cell
Just wait...
For my 10s2p I set it to 20amps 36volts for fast charge,
there is no alternative!

you are right, any lithium battery is dangerous with charging in wrong charge mode.

nimh and nicd battery is charged with CC, Lithium ion , lipoly , liFEPO4, lead acid or VRLA battery is charged with CC and then CV. Different electrochemical system has different charging mode...

Is the LiFePO4 as critical as the other lithium batteries as far as fire or explosion danger?

I'm sitting up 6-RCR123As - (LiFePO4) -series parallel to 6V and using a 6v reg. for safety measure as Rx batt. setup and haven't seen any around. Will that work ok?

Sounds to me like you are building a 2S3P A123 battery pack. The A123 cell is rated 2.3 volts and 2300 mah. Doing the math (three parallel strings of 2 series cells) that's 6.6 volts at 6900 ampere hours. That's an awful lot of power for a receiver. Most are using just 2S1P for the receiver.
Remember, most receiver batteries that come with radio systems are 500-600 mah NiCad or NiMh packs.

So far than been no reported incidents with A123 technolgy.

As preveous post stated a 2S A123 is all that is needed for a receiver / servos power.
2300 mAh , more amps than 10 digital sevos can use and no regulator required as voltage will be very close to the same as a 5 cell Ni pack.
