What's a better set up on this thing for the rudder.....the pull/pull system or direct to servo using the pushrods?

The pull-pull setup that comes in the hardward is what I used and has proven to work out quite well. I only wished the servo mounting plate was a bit larger so one could put in a slightly larger better servo.

keep it factory, they have it set-up this way for performance and weight factors. the carbon fiber arm broke on assembly on the rudder servo so i just used another arm close to the same size. If you can manage to break kevlar strings, i would hate to see the plane after. Rated at 100 lbs pull. It is a pain to set them up, and i have a spot or two rubbing but it works great.

My KMD was totaled this thursday, video explains it at the end.

The Kevlar wire is one of the few things that survived completely intact... LOTS of flights on this bird.

Dude, are you pro? That is some gutsy flying! Sorry about that plane. Extra parts? At least the second one you will build faster because of being familiar already. Can`t believe the radio failed. Did you use the stock antenna and ran it out hang out the rear a little? Zapped? Looks like you had the plane flying solid. Good luck on the next one.Told you the kevlar kicks A#%!

Wow, thanks! No not pro, just love(d) to fly my KMD

I am not sure what is wrong with it, stock antenna, well routed. This is a new berg 7P and i could get it to replicate what it did on the bench while i can't get my other 7P's to do it so i probably just a dud, it had been solid on prefvious flights. Part of the hobby unfortunately... in 2007!!!

Onward and upward!

I fly all Futabla 7 channel, micro, full range. I like to fly high if i feel the need, and don`t have to worry. I see all these mod`s that people are doing, but in stock form and built to spec`s, there is no need. If you put it in the ground :you can build it like a tank and it won`t help you. That`s why we paid so much for these things,to let them do the research.Oh, stay with the same color, not that weenie see thru cra@#!

I agree; build a plane to crash and it will! (or at least it will fly in a way that will make you want to crash it) I didn't modify anything on this plane. Ironically If i had been doing a rolling harrier 2 feet off the ground instead of leisurely flying at 1/3 throttle level 60 feet up getting ready to turn back towards myself when the radio failed i would not need a new KMD. Probably could have finished my packs with a different rx popped in.

Crashing is part of the game. That`s why we do it. Makes it fun. I have heard some flyers say: That`s not how a real airplane flies! Yeah, but i`ll bet you their hair will stand up on the back of their neck if they went into an inverted hover. I will admit, i do have nice easy flying glow planes that i do just relax and fly. Mainly because i have to much money tied into them! Warplanes, and a crop duster that are not 3d designed. But there is nothing like letting loose with the MD at the local soccer field after my kid finishes practice and the field clears off. Yeeeah! 3 battery`s down and i got my fix.

I totally agree, the fact that an error can mean that your plane is totalled in a split second is what makes this exciting, otherwise they would be toys. and you would get boared of this in a minute.

but i don't need my gear failing on me... there is plenty of challenge as it is. I totalled another plane this week but that was entirely my fault. Feels good, a humbling experience.

So I take it everone is using the pull/pull system in this Katana MD? No one is using the push/Pull? I was just wondering because there are spots to install the servo in the back of the plane for a push/pull system.

I believe it said in the setup info. that you could put the servo in the tail but it may throw the CG off. You may have to add weight to the nose or have a serious tail heavy plane that would hover, but that`s all it would do. From my flying with the MD it is leveled perfect with the Pull pull system. Then you just move your battery back and forth on the holder and it is just enough to hover or have good nose foward flight. But it wouldn`t hurt to try it? If you didn`t like it you just could cover the hole back up.

Did you make that video yourself. That`s cool. what kind of software did you us? Cool flying. I have the yellow MD myself. Is that sugar cane in the background. I am a sugar cane farmer.

Thanks, you are talking about my new KMD video right? If so than no that is definitely not sugar cane! Its shot in Montreal Quebec, i don't think it's even possible to grow sugar cane that far north!

And yes i was using the pull pull, balances and works perfectly.
