Love the prop. is that a painted APC?

You just gave me an idea, the xoars must be very easy to paint! I could even sand the varnish off first.

Thought you would like that. Yes that is an APC. I spray painted it black first then used painting tape to mark off the end and then used a brush to paint the yellow. I like to paint all my props. On glow and electric. I always check the balance, but i put only 2 lite coats so i have never seen an affect on vibration.

I am already sanding a xoar 12x6 as we speak!

I will then apply a light coat of black acrylic (watered down) with a foam brush taping off the tips which will get a yellow or red treatment, i have not decided. Then for the glossy finish i will dilute some water based finish and also foam brush to give it just a light gloss.

Wish me luck

Here it is, took 2 coats of diluted yellow and black, then i sealed it with... thinned canopy glue! Yup i was out of that gloss thing (dried in the bottle) I am pretty happy with the results. took only a small dab of glue spread behind a tip to get it balanced. Best of all, i weighed it against another "stock" xoar and it did not gain any weight as far as my scale can tell.

Oh yeah! Looks like you bought that. People always ask me, what kind of prop is that? Experimental. The tips show up good when spinning also. I `m going to get those MPI wheels yall recomended. I want to try those wheel pants. I may use some hot glue to keep them on but if i hit something they would pop of easily.
Man, I almost lost it today; i was flying invert low and fast and had a mental lapse for a split sec.
I had been flying another plane in-between the md flights that is setup differently. I missed putting it nose in the ground by a hair. I shook me up so bad i had to finish the rest of the flight keeping it up higher.

I rather like the idea of hot glue actually; break away design. It'll likely survive any normal use but if it grabs too hard on something it just pops off, good trick and fast too!

I usually use one screw and a dab of shoe goo, set to cure with the right angle. I should remove the screws next time (after the shoe goo cures) This stuff is really elastic which is not a bad thing for this purpose.

Thanks!

I use a PA thrust 30 with a castle creations phoenix 45. but Pa has a combo that is well worth it if you are buying all new and order an arf from them at the same time. This is the best way to go i think. Of course if you have a quality 40A or better esc with a 3A or greater bec you might as well use it.

Other motors used:

extreme flight rc torque 2818/900
apache apm30-18t

There isn't much else in that KV, power and weight class out there, some heavier motors with higher kv will give more power but they will either tax the power system more or require propping down. The eflite power 10 for instance, it works but it takes something away from the intended overall balance of the plane. Power, flight time, weight, performance. Don't worry! with a quality 15C 2100 mah lipo and a 12x6 you will be getting unlimited vertical.

For the pack, i feel since peak loads are roughly 30A on the recomended motor there is no better power and capacity to weight match for this plane than the thunder power 2100 pro lite. Unless you plan on using a 13x6.5 and using wot for extended periods or have something else similar on hand already. Of course, if you plan on using your packs on someting that requires more power i guess the compromise for heavier higher C rating packs will do.

Ditto what aflipz said. i ordered mine thru Atlanta hobbies. They are what and what between them and PA. The Torque 2818-900 motor, which i have, that atlanta sells fits in with no mod.`s. It is said to have slightly less power. But i can`t see a diff. I use HS-65 sevvo`s and an e- flight 40-amp which i already had. If you order from PA or Atlanta hobbies and get what they recommend you can`t go wrong either way. Oh yeah, killer plane!

Thanks guys!
I already have a couple of Flight Power 3s1p 2170 packs that are rated at 25c continous. So I,m hoping that they will work ok.

thx Dave

Hs-65. There are more pricey ones out there, but it is all you need. Haven`t stripped one yet. 80 flights

Hello,
interesting: I just checked both servos out. The 3114 is just as strong , as the HS 65. (17n 3114vvs. 18 n with the HS65). But the 3114 is lighter, smaller, twice as fast - and at least in Germany - way cheaper! Am I wrong?
