Hoping someone can help me out with a photo of a their 2100 (TP of FP) battery in the right CG location in the plane....

I have seen some photos of the battery extending out over the pull / pull servo and want to make sure I am in the right vacinity...

I have flown my new Katana MD 5-6 times and it feels good, but have not tried anything too crazy (yet)...

Thanks a bunch for any help / guidance!!!!!

too many factors will influence pack placement to obtain propper cg to be of any relevance to you, measure and fly

The ideal cg is a compromise between hovering and flatspin capability and coupling in K/E on the sweet spot it does both great.

Your plane should stall slowly, descending allmost flat not suddenly drop the nose and accelerate downward. But it's tail should not drop.

Still Itai, that will not be helpfull...

All these planes, each and every one of them even if build and assembled with the same components will need the pack to be in a different location in order to have their cg on the same mark, looking at someone else's plane to see where he puts his battery pack in order to achieve cg will almost invariably give you different results on your plane. if you want to be helpfull tell him what distance from the leading edge of the wing at the root your cg is at.

Understood all comments, but photos still helpful....

Not withstanding that of course the better way is a fly and test, I saw some photos with the battery extending PAST the Pull / Pull servo...

I doubt a company that went through so much detail to build this plane would have a battery tray in the wrong place...

Thanks for the photo when avail.

Aflipz you are 100% correct, that was my intention, right now before the maiden flight my CG is 95mm from the leading edge of the wing.

Bonefishers, here are some pictures for you just for impressions. You still have to locate your battery, if necessary move the battery until the correct balance is achieved.

As an example, drachenstein from rcg had to build a new battery tray that extends past the pull pull just to achieve forward cg, let alone 3d cg... Others have the pack pushed farther forward in the firewall to get the same result.

he has the same plane and components as anyone else. If i had my pack that far back the plane would be able to do nothing but hover!

Thanks to all and trust I do know the right way to do this... I was just surprised to see the huge variations with the same components... But thanks again to all...

Flying again tomorrow... have this a 7lb Harmom Rocket III that I converted from Glow to EP with a POwer 46 and 4S 5000MAH....

My Katana MD is my fun crazy plane and the Rocket is a scale fast bird...

Thanks again!!!

What is the can size on the Thrust 30 motor?? I have one on its way and am thinking of running a GP Rimfire 35-36-1450 weighs 102gr, so its diameter is 35mm and 36mm in length, putting out 555 watts. They also have a 35-30-1450 weighs 71gr putting out 388 watts.
I want awesome power but obviously would like to keep the weight down, the Thrust 30 weight is listed as 104gr. So I believe either motor listed will work on the weight.
Anyone have the max continuous wattage output on the Thrust 30??? Thanks.

KV too high on those rimfires. You'd have to use a smaller diameter
prop, which you don't want on a 3D plane. These planes need
around 900-1000 KV.

This plane is far from heavy with the recomended setup. but if weight reduction is your game...

scorpion 3008-32 MIGHT work (85 grams)

here's the deal, pushed to it's limits on 3 cells (12x6E) it draws just under 26A and makes 48.75 ounces of thrust. I havent tried it so i can't tell you how it is. but i am assuming with a nice light pack like a hecell 1500mah 15C pack (110 grams) you'd probably end up with an acceptable power to weight ratio.

i still say go for the "stock" setup... This plane does NOT have weight issues.

106 grams, 35mm outside diameter, 5mm shaft, 350W 15 sec burst minimum.

closest thing;

GPMG4615

I have to say, the specs on the great planes (rimfire) website are very appealing but i have to call BS they are over rating it considerably.
