Status: online 		I am looking at getting this plane but was hoping to get some insight on how well it is built. Also I want to use a gas engine, any recommendations on which one will give best performance?

Status: online 		Which one they make 3 of them? I'm sure the 60 size Marie and Miss A are too small for gas burners.

My 60 size is ok, the plane is well built but the retracts were junk. Its more maintenece than my helicopters though, I'm always fixing something on it.

Status: offline 		I'm going with a 26GT in mine - the 35GT won't fit! I guess it is too wide for the fuse...unless of course you don't mind cutting up the cowl. I would like to keep mine as untouched as possible. I'm flying their P-47 w/ a 26GT ( pulling about 8000 RPM's) and it is one fun flying bird! I would think the Mustang is even faster

Status: offline 		Yes, and go with their recommendations - metal arm and 791's. Very solid and have given me no trouble.

Hey Z,

Welcome to the "Squadron!" We've got a fairly decent build thread on this 'Stang at http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5120982/tm.htm. Lot's of good contributions, and discussions, to help you with this build.

A ways back, I also created a Word doc summary of the original H9 1.50 P-51 build thread; just PM me with your real email address if you want a copy. Note: in that summary, I chose not to include two topic areas from that original thread: engine choices (including gas) and retract upgrades. I'd already chosen the Saito 220 for my 'Stang, and the gear in this second version is a fairly robust oleo strut design that doesn't require upgrading as did the flimsy wire struts in the original 'Stang.
