Status: offline 		G'day John. We were rather late getting there and did not arrive until about 1pm. It was great to smell the ether, watch the small free flight models and listen to the Steve Rothwell R250 motors screaming like glows. Steve was flying a Peacemaker (very like a Flight Streak) with one of his motors until he let Andy of Cowra fly it. Andy was having a great time hurling it around until ..... THUD. Steve did not seem too worried.

Status: offline 		I have been quietly lurking on this site even though I am a member and only stick my 2 cents worth in if it helps solve a problem.

As a diesel user I thought you would be interested in ome of my models, the fleet is small but with 2 schlossers (.025 and 0.5cc), MP Jet Classic and a N.I.B AS.55 (0.55cc) waiting fo models to be built I will oon have enough models to keep me quiet.

The first model is the Dizzy Diesel that was published in the December 1947 Aeromodeller which originally was powered by a Mills 1.3. I built mine for a PAW 06 by extending the nose an extra 1.5" to keep the cg in the right place. In flying the model it is "over powered" with the PAW and a MIlls 75 would have been a better option.

The next model is the Vic Smeed PAAgeboy and I fitted a PAW 80 and again I have to extend the nose to get the cg right. With low rev's it just cruises to altitude and is a real floater. DT is manditory!

The last model is a Noel Shennan Piper Cub J3 (very semi-scale) reduce by 20% for a PAW 055, has not been flown yet but the engine has been run in the inverted position without any problems. The side cowl is removable and a plug fit on installation and a small tension spring anchors it to the airframe.

Status: offline 		My latest is an Airborn 810 sq. in. wing area from Bob Holman short kit and a GB 5.4 cc diesel. Flya well and first flight with the GB started on first flip of the prop and caught a thermal. Had to spin down a couple times on first flight. Jack

Status: offline 		Keil Kraft Phantom control line racer's by Laurie Chetter and Dave Helmrich. PAW 1.49 cc GY and MVVS 2.00 cc powered. Laurie's have lithoplate on the cowling.

Taken at the control line State meet at Maryborough Queensland on 16th May 2012.

What engine are you running in that 54" Quaker? I started one a few years ago and need to finish it.

I was thinking PAW, AM, MVVS or Webra R/C 1.5cc diesel but need to run them and see which one I like best.

Status: offline 		It flies! After a long build, I finally got it into the air. This is a Carl Goldberg Tiger 2, powered by a PAW .40 TBR. I elected to switch to a two aileron servo setup, changed it into a tail dragger, and cowled the engine. It's covered in Monocote. This is my first full R/C build, and I think it turned out pretty well, and am very pleased with how it flies!

Status: offline 		 This one is good on fuel ,  , its an 09 , had a rebuild months ago , its one of Fierys donor engines and does not take 3/4 of an hour to start like my first effort, I had quite a few goes at the lapping

Status: offline 		Whirlwind, a Ted Strader design from Flying Models January 1961. I first flew one rudder-only escapement and pulse propo in 1963-64.
This one is just being finished and should be maidened this week-end.
49 years ago, I had a Fox 15 in it, this time around, a Modela (MVVS) Junior 2cc diesel will provide the urge, with rudder, elevator and throttle. It is covered in silk and dope as the original.

Status: offline 		The Whirlwind now has 11 flights. I am very happy with the Modela Junior 2cc engine.
It starts easily, idles well and reliably and turns the 8x4 Master prop at a steady 11,800 rpm on the ground.
One ounce of fuel (equal parts of John Deere starter fluid, kerosene and castor oil + 2.5% Amsoil cetane improver) yields fligts of 7 minutes.
A very nice little engine indeed.

Actually, the engine is an MVVS .12 (Modela Junior 2cc - purchased in Czechoslovakia in 1991) which behaves impeccably.
Here is the Whirlwind ready just before it's first flight, complete with windshield. It won the Pilot's Choice award at the Muncie 2012 VRCS meeting.
I too love Ted Strader's designs.

It looks great all complete with the windscreen. Nice work winning Pilots Choice.

I love that spitfire! Can you post a you-tube video of it flying? I'd really like to see some videos of control line diesel airplanes flying with the bigger PAW's. 29 and up but mostly the 40, 49, and 60.
