Nelson 15 D is the power plant.
Prop is one of Stu Sherlocks Q21 single blade props very much reduced in area and diameter
Model is based on a few asymmetric designs.
Basswood wing with bagged carbon (needed to stiffen it up)
Has done just over the 200 KPH but have some things to try to push it a bit faster

A nice blue sky, a very slow flying Super Scorpion with a PAW 35 ticking over on a 14x6 wood, who could ask for more?

I have a PAW 35 looking for a home. Where did you get the plan/kit from which you built the model. Looks really nice. I'd love to have a suitable job for my 35.

Lately I have been flying a Heron Gas Buggy with a Silver Swallow 1.5cc diesel. It tends to Dutch roll a bit and it is best left to its own devices when it is under power but it becomes a very sweet little glider once the noise stops.

The Super Scorpion is a Ben Buckle plan (you can get it via BB's Ebay store), about 66" span.

It's a perfect match for the PAW 35 but I've also flown it with a Mills 5 cc (Indian copy of a big prototype Mills that never went into production) and an original DC Wildcat as well.

I can highly recommend it as an entertaining build.

Flies really well, tracks well on take off, loops are great and even with the tiny rudder it will do nice barrelly rolls.

Zero Dutch rolling so you can play as much as you like, or leave it alone as you wish.

Only thing you will find is that it needs heaps of downthrust or you can do as I did and mix down elevator in with throttle.
The elevator goes from about 1/4" down at low throttle to about 1/2" down at full throttle.

Go ahead, you'll love it!

Could you explain your fuel system. What is the small forward tank?
looks like a shut off is connected to it?
What kind of rpm does that Nelson turn up?
Have you run any standard two blade props on it? Prop size? RPM? for mainstream comparision...

Very well executed - do you get dizzy keeping up?

It's only ever run on single blade props. They are Stewart Sherlock aka SuperCool props. They are originally 21 speed props. I broke the one that was used to do it's first couple of runs with. I left more blade area on the second prop and it's now done 204 kph on this weekend just gone. It's a 7.28 " pitch prop and 3" radii or 6" diameter prop.
Every time I run it I forget to tach it. Will do it on it's next outing. There's a video of it from a few weekends ago at the Barton site Forum (which is a great control line site) here's a link

The tank was intended to act as a small receiver to prevent crankcase flooding as the engine is run on pressure. In the end I omitted it as the model has a very effective shut off and I ran out of room for it!
The engine is a side exhaust Nelson 15 D which came second hand from eBay and a Mr Harris in the UK ( of Harris combat engine fame just out of interest) and I'm very happy with it indeed.

As far as getting dizzy I have to confess to having had proxy fliers for all of it's 6 flights so far!!!!!!!!!
I took it to the field on Saturday to have a couple of flights and made a mess of my first take off and broke the prop so let Ric Justic fly on Sunday.

As you can see I replaced the Cox TD.09 in the Creep with your  Elfin 2.49 to have it legal for OZ Vintage FF.   Starts easy and goes well too.

Status: online 		G'day oily hand people. Here is my latest diesel powered effort. Not a big one this time - this one is really tiny. The engine is a PAW 1.5cc single ball race RC diesel.

Model is an Australian designed and laser cut kit called the EZI FLY. I was bored and looking for a project and there it was on the certain auction site we all love to hate.

The fuse and tail feathers have been doped and then painted with Top Flight spray paint and the wing is covered in Solafilm (all I could find).

It has been raining here all week so it has not had an outing yet. Hopefully on Sunday.

Yes I am hoping to get there and bring the EZI FLY (if it survives!). It is all my fault. I started it when I was in Cowra so I have to go to see how they are treating it. It just seems to get bigger each year.

I think I will put my Irvine 40D in something too - it might be in a Sig LT40 trainer or my old Great Planes Big Stick 40.

I have also just started building a replica of the first successful control line model I had when I was about 11. It is a simple profile model that a friend gave me. He used it as a trainer and then as a rat race model. I will be putting a Taipan 2.5cc diesel in it. Earlier this evening I had it firing though I did not start it. It is a big down on compression but I think it will run. The piston was just hitting the contra piston so I had to put a bit of fuel in it and get it to fire to move the CP up.

Hope to see you in Cowra. My son lives in Canberra in Watson which I think is not far from where you fly in Mitchell?

The Cowra Oily Hand Day(s) were bigger and better than ever this year. I guess there were between 30 and 40 people flying. Cool and slightly windy but much better than last year.

I took the Ezi Fly and it had an airing with its single ballrace PAW 1.5D. I kept getting radio "hits" and eventually we had to put it down in the wheat field but there was no damage. It flies really well for such a small plane. Just like my big Kadet Seniors but smaller. Hand launch helps too.

I also took a control line replica of my first plane from 1960. It had one flight with its 1961 Taipan 2.5D.

There were lots of control line models and some spectacular crashes when people started flying combat. No one seemed to mind though.

I only went for day one and as the weather today was even better I guess people had an even better time today.
