Its good that an rc tank manufacturer like HL, gives us the opportunity and affordability to get ones feet wet in the bottomless world of rc tanks. Right out of the box, the HL tank is so close on detail accuracy and with a little work on its known flaws, is one darn nice and dependable running rc tank model.

Couldn't agree with you more. I personally think they are leading the charge on this hobby right now. IF the rumored IR battle system becomes fact, look out!!!!!

Right on! And another fine example is HL's newest addition, the Pz III. Its the smallest 1/16 tank in the HL series, and because of its lighter weight and narrow tracks, the HL electronics, motors, and gearing(including the biggest drive sprocket) have finally met their correct match-up. Scale speed seems to be more realistic and with the shorter wheelbase, power/axis turns are easier, especially over rough terrain or debris, including its ability to completly punch out of steep climbs.

I agree. HL Tanks are bringing the hobby to all. I have just joined the RC Tank hobby with a PZ111 and its a superb model although lacking in refinement and some detail but what else is around for that money. The HL Tanks are now a good base from which to build. I got my PZ111 in February I was so taken that I took delivery of a Tiger 1 metal edition the other day. I am well and truly hooked

HL Got me into tanking.

I always wanted but could never afford a Tam. Now I'm can see I'm going to be spending more on HL's then I would for a Tam but I'll have several great tanks instead of just the one.

HL has had a fantastic input on the market - the market is growing and prices and quality work for the customers !

Damn right i belong to another forum and they are set on slagging off HL to hell freezes over, these guys prefer to keep their hobby a secluded elite little unit and do not like the fact that the prices have come down significantly to open up this hobby to all.
Go Heng Long and may you produce more models

I fully agree with everyone. HL has made it possible with very meager museum funding (and some of mine) to build a sizable German-US tank force for demo. Could not even dream of putting out Tamiya prices. Militarymight has it tight on many RC battle tankers putting Tamiya on a pedestal and talking HL and trumpeter down. Agree, quality is a world apart, but having a tank to play with without putting the house or car up on hock is very important. Just wish Century 21 tanks had upgrade kits or better electronics. The dertailing is very good.

I can certainly understand putting the Tammies up on a pedestal. If the only way that I could get my hands on a R/C Tank was to buy a Tammie, I don't think I would let it anywhere the ground. I would be afraid of damaging something that expensive. I just got my first Tiger I from Matto. Still breaking in the metal gears. What a magnificent.... well,, toy, BUT, it is great! And it drives the little cat, who ate my electric heli, nuts!

P.S. No offense intended to Tamiya owners. I just can't see putting that much into one tank.

HL has done very well for itself, especially finding that market that others could not satisfy. HL quality is getting better all the time and the best part is:

No matter what 'toy' you have, everyone can enjoy getting together for a battle!

I wish Heng Long would bring more ww2 tanks out. Matto are doing a 1 16 king tiger coming out in the Autumn it will far less expensive than the tam version so available to all. I would like to see a Sherman, A truck, Halftracks Jeeps all fully rc how cool would that be for the battlefield.

I sell 1 16 tanks and accessories on ebay but am unable to persuade suppliers and manufacturers that these items are sought after.
Lets hope that the current demand and high sales will persuade Heng Long to release more models.

I was looking at tamiya tanks on tower hobby, they sell six 1/16 scale tamiya tanks.Cheapest being $519.99and the highest being $939.99.The total of all six==$4,109.94 And no radios, battery's or chargers come with any of them.
I bought 5 =1/16 scale HL tanks,2 hailaing 1/12 scale panzers, and 1 hailiang 1/12 scale jeep for a total of $596.00 with shipping included in that total. And they have radio's,batterys, and chargers. And I spent another $220.00 for a (lot) of up-grade parts from Mato. That is pretty hard to beat. BIGMIG

Guys,
totally agree with all your comments. I currently own 7 Henlongs and one Tamiya. We took them all out the other day and you dont need 3 guesses for which one broke down with idler tensioning!

On the scale and realism front the Tamiyas do take a lot of beating but I find there price just too prohibitive. I would challange anyone to tell my Tiger one apart from the Tamiya. I also find the Henglongs so reliable. I had last put my pershing away after a very muddy run ewith no cleaning. k months later, put a battery init and off it goes.

I too hope they bring more out but there is a lot of conversions you can do with the current range. By the way Trumpeter are bringing out an American half track in 1/16, should be possible to convert to RC.

I agree before I found the HL tanks I couldn't afford to get into the rc tank world was just too expensive. I will agree that there are some errors and mistakes on the HL tanks but with some modeling skills these can be fixed. Also with the upgrades available the HL tanks can be improved. I saw my first Tamiya tank kit along time ago and it was the Sherman and at that time the kit was over 300 bucks then you had to buy the radio gear separate adding more to the cost. I'm a pzrIII lover it is my favorite german tank the stugIII is right there with the pzrIII. Next would be the tiger I followed by the panther.

It's so rare that i can agree with everyone in a thread, i do love my tamiyas dearly, but thats why i only have 3 ...because they are Dear!! i would love to get the full range, even though i am not really into German stuff, (i have had the tam tiger 1 and sold it on, which finaced a sherman) , but HL make tanks that look great straight out of the box, and with a little dressing and maybe a repaint, and moving that damn 50 cal ammo can to where it should be, they look even better, and apart from details such as opening hatches and the odd bit here and there, they can't really be distinguished rom a yard away from good old Tamiya, i love the bulldog and it is my favourite over the pershing and damn close second to the sherman (my first love) but for useanbility and affordability then as long as the retailers dont catch on and start charging stupid money for them, with huge mark ups, ( i seen it done before) then i aim to get a good platoon of tanks to play with, and they will be HL, sure i now know i gotta replace boards and cut hatches if i want them to open, but this is a small...very small price to pay for a collection which apart from when we fire em up and play ,sit on the shelf looking great, i may be wrong, but it wouldn't suprise meif somewhere along the line they weren't linked to tamiya somehow, i mean they are just soooooo close, and any company that big and powerful worth it's salt would have probably got them shut down or sued by by now, anyway i have prattled on long enough, so keep up the good work, and long live the cheap but not crappy hen long dynasty, CC
