Loud mouth schnooks!

I started this hobby 35 years ago and there is a guy at the local RC club who is still the reason that I haven't joined them!
I fly alone. I've met some nice guys at the club but they all still mention the same idiot and apparently his son who didn't fall far from the tree

Everything else in the hobby is good! Same complaints as some of the others, time, wife...lol

Tweety,
Your going to find this in every club, to some extent or another....so, look at the positives vs the negatives, and go from there. A club is what YOU make it, or contribute to it. These "schnooks" will come and go, they always have, and they always will. I feel if you put out the positive vibes, sooner or later its going to take on, and resolve the issues you mention.....

Sounds a lot like an old Foghorn Leghorn cartoon to me
Forget the Tweety nom de plume, and go to "Chicken Hawk

The club I belong to has just one "pesky" type. He once tried to take my TX during takeoff roll
So I cut the throttle, and used the trim to kill the engine, and handed it to him.
The club pres. took care of the rest

You're right buddy, and I see that several guys have mentioned similar problems throughout this thread. However, I started when I was 6-7 years old and this guy acted like he owned the world and everything under the sky, total control freak. No one wants to be around him and those that have nowhere left to fly grin and bear it...Like most people I have enough stress with my life and my job than to go on the weekend and listen to this guy spewing off his 'religious' beliefs on RC which are 100% in oposition to everyone elses. Hey! I still visit and talk to the other guys, how else can you learn? He hasn't gone away for over thirty years and hasn't changed. Now his control freak son is the same. The club has suffered 30+ years from low attendance and waining interest for all this time because one person tries to dictate personal opinions on everyone else, the young people in the sport won't have anything to do with him so they go run cars or boats instead. Now I'm in my 40's and the a$$hole still intimidates me only now I want to knock his lights out every time he opens his mouth.
For me the only thing that's kept my love of flying alive is that I have generous friends that let me fly on their farm or open field. Sure, I can put up with more now but I believe it's guys that take things overboard that push the kids out of the sport. Personally I want to fly half as good as those 14-16 year olds that were born with a game contoller in their hands! Not some overbearing idiot who has time and money to push everyone out of the way so he can, fly first or as long as he wants, etc. etc. etc.

I'm with ya Tweety,
I've only belonged to one of my current clubs for a year. The very 1st person I had contact with told me "you just have to learn who the a$$holes are". Turns out he was one of the head A-Holes. Making fun of peoples flying, he\they actually looked forward to someone crashing, just so they could heckle him. These guys can't fly worth crap, so anyone that they consider a threat, they use verbal abuse. Well about 6 months into my membership, one of the almighty followers gave me some flac, he'd done it 2x before. Strike 3, that was it. I confronted him, told him if I heard any more negative comments come out of his mouth, we'd have a problem, this while being nose to nose. Well it turned out he was all talk, as I've never even seen him at the club since that day. Like a frightened turtle he picked up his plane, threw it in the truck and left.

Tweety,
DO NOT do anything physical at your clubs location. But kindly tell the inbred ya wanna buy him a beer, you know what to do after that

Thanks for the advice, I'm pretty peacefull in real life...except for the way I fly And to add I've had great experiences with clubs in Brockville, ON, Strathroy, ON, London, ON and visiting all over Canada and USA. Got to give a thanks to the guys in London, they renewed my faith in the sport and got me flyin' again a few years back...and!!! they have tons of kids in their clubs The more the hobby grows the more interesting ideas you see and more people will support it.

My current beef is my Evo 36 in my Tribute. After a gallon and a half it now won't hold a needle setting and quits at half tank. Just like it's wore out. I do know how to tune my engines, but this one leaves me wondering. I've got motors well over 10+ years old from OS, TT, ST, Enya, Fox, and Magnum(maybe 5+ on these) that run great with many gallons through them. I give up on this POS motor. End RANT.
