Your proposed setup looks good to me as long as you expect your Predator to end up with a flying
weight around 40oz..

Status: offline 		You might want to up the power a bit as you suggest - at 40 ounces, 200W is not huge.

However, the motor you showed a link to specs a 10x5 prop - Predator ground clearance really only allows for a 9" prop so you might want to consider a 9x6 or similar.

Status: offline 		I still plan on using a 9" prop.Thats ok even if the engine is recommended for a slightly larger one, right?

Status: offline 		 Well it's been a while since I checked in. The predator model I bought came from www.generalhobby.com. It was a tealish camo color, seemed to be similar to the nitoplanes model.
 IT CAME WITH 2 LEFT WINGS! ARG
Additionally, there were a variety other problems with the model (including a misformed fiberglass cowling)

Anyway I sent it back and the guy is supposed to be sending me a different predator model by a different manufacturer, hopefully it comes with one wing for each side

I am new to the forum.  I followed this thread over here from the Nitro site.

I am considering getting one of these predator electrics.  But all models seem to be out of stock.
I read alot of the beginning of this thread and it seems to be an ongoing problem.

But I have another question.  There seems to be three models offered at three different prices.
$79.95 for mod.#90A166_ARF_RQ18,  $74.95 for mod.#81A166Y-Q-1, and $49.00 for mod.#81A66-Q-1.

I looked at the differences in each description.  I thought the small monetary difference between the
first two "might" be only because of the color scheme. But the $49.00 model has me stumped!
I do not see any differences in the model descriptions other than color.
What could be the reason for the big price difference for the $49.00 model?
And why do they seem to have a supply problem?

Any help would be appreciated.

I just looked at the Nitro site and the three Predators do have me confused, too!  I tend to agree with you that the difference
between the first two is just color, desert camo vs. green camo.  Now, the $49.00 one sure looks just like my original green
camo version and I cannot figure out why it is 25 bucks lower.  Since they all are "out of stock,"  I would suggest that you contact
Nitro to see if they are expecting a new shipment of any Predator models in the near future.

Status: offline 		I just took a look at my Predator and all I did was to place the rear cowl and then to attach it to the fuselage with
4 small screws.  I think that you can see one of the attachment screws in theses photos.  It basically just covers
the motor and ESC and provides cooling ari for both.  I hope that this helps.

Concerning the nose gear placement, I just mounted it as the directions indicated and never made it
stearable as I found that I did not need it to be.  Our flying fields are grass and the Predator took off in
such a short distance, that I never had a problem with the nose wheel.   I did attach a slightly larger
nose wheel as you can see in the last photo.

Status: offline 		Awesome.  I didnt need to have any extensions on my motor as it was long enough w the prop adaptor.  SHould I be worried about it beig too "big?"  I tested the AMP and watts...it was right at 19 amps and 200 watts.  Sould be good for a standards weight...I havent weighed it but Im using no extra parts.

It's not so much physical size of the motor that matters, it's the wattage which you are aware of.  Also,
the plane is so light in it's construction, all balsa, that I did need some extra weight in the nose battery
compartment to get the correct CG.  You can see some of the little lead weights in these photos.

Also, I found it helped the air flow over the battery to open a small hole in the nose as you can see.

I ordered the light weight ones you said but as bet I can tell, you just use a washer on each side of the wheel and screw it tight?  They wont roll...the front wheel is so tight on the bar it wont roll at all.  grrrrrrrrr

I have had a nitro planes 64in Predator sitting around and its about time i got it in the air.

I have read through the forums with papa jeff and it seems i can not figure what the best motor would be. you say A22-20L, but i look them up and all i find is a hacker style motor. any suggestions.

Can anyone paste some links to some motors.

Status: offline 		I've had great success with my Electrify RIMFIRE brushless outrunner, GPMG4640, 850rpm/volt (45A constant/55A surge), 666W const.; coupled with a, Extreme Flight Airboss Elite 60A ESC, and a Thunder Power 3800mAh/45C battery. With that rig, my preferred propeller is a 3-blade Master Airscrew 11 X 8 .
