You are required to glue the pipe tunnel onto the bottom of the wing. Therefore, when you assemble the plane at the field, you will need to use a plastic tie to hold down the rear of the pipe. When it comes time to disassemble the plane, the pipe will stay with the fuse. I was thinking of using a short pipe, but the flat bottom cowl prevented me from doing so.
On a side note, the more I look at the location of the tank, the more I wanted to put it somewhere else. First of all, I'm planning to put the rx and the battery pack right under the rudder servo for balance. However, even if I can get the plane to balance per suggested cg location, I think it will still be nose heavy when the tank is full of fuel, and the cg will keep changing as the flight progresses. Most likely, I will relocate the tank to the front of the servo tray. Even though, it will cost me another two evenings of work, I think the end result will definitely justify the hard work.

It's almost time to mount the canopy, and I'm soliciting opinion.
The stock blue canopy weights 2.5oz, and it has kind of a weird tall bubble shape. I have an extra clear canopy from another plane, only 2 oz and it looks more stream line.
Stick with the stock one, or, go for the after market? Decision, decision.

I used the stock one, but the clear one you have looks much better. Mine did not have that big bubble at the top. Besides that your set-up looks great.

Nice build thread. I just ordered one of these Monday. Let me know how your mod goes for mounting the tank on (or closer to) the CG. I don't have the plane yet so I can't tell if the tank can fit up in the radio area.
How's the overall quality of the kit? I've never had a World Models plane before.

Overall, I'm happy with the quality. However, as you can tell from my post, there are a few area that needs to be improved on.
I'll be busy next week. Hopefully, will be ready for test flight the week after.

I just received my plane today. No damage . Looks to be pretty well designed/built. Not quite sure on the covering. Not sure what it is but it's not your typical Monokote or Ultracote. I should be able to easily place the tank on the CG.
I hate CA hinges. Never like them. Tried them again and I STILL hate them. Good ol Klett hinges on this one. Hope to have it done during the week sometime.
Did I mention I hate CA hinges?

Well, the plane is done.
Much to my surprise, it came out sightly tail heavy, even with the heavy engine mount and the 140L up front. Instead of moving the tank to the cg area, I moved the 4 cell pack from behind the rudder servo to right in front of the receiver. Since World did not indicate any center/ datum line, incidence angle on the wing and the stab on their instruction manual, all I could do is to give it my best guesstimation. I put the plane on top of the work bench, and set the fuse parallel to the table as best as I could. I then use an incidence meter to set the main wing to about 0.5 degree of positive, then, set the stabs to zero.
Since I do not have a suitable scale, I am not able to report the final weight at this point. However, my friend Derek will be meeting me at the field in the morning with his, and I will report later. Should both the weather and the engine cooperates, I am planning on testing the plane tomorrow.

As mentioned before, the ele push rod exit point is a bit too far away from horn, causing the long rod to flex. Therefore, I installed a brace to support the push rod by means of a servo arm. However, I still think the ideal solution is to make your own push rod, which will probably be my next project.
Initial flight report and impression:-
After double checking the cg and incidence, I started the 140L to fine tune the engine before my test flight. It has been close to 5 years since I've operate an 140L, but it started up instantaneously without any problem. After my 20th range check, with and without the engine running, I ran out of excuses. I pointed the plane into the wind and applied throttle, it broke ground within 20 feet for a gentle climb. After 4 clicks of down elevator and three clicks of right aileron trim, the plane settled into a very stable straight and level flight, my initial reaction to Derek was "Wow, the plane is solid".
The next few minutes was devoted to checking the cg while flying up right and inverted, roll rate, up and down line, stall turn and knife edge flight. Initial cg felt ok, but require more than normal up ele to recover from half reverse cuban 8, it also needed quite a bit of down ele to hole inverted flight. Up and down line seemed fairly straight but tucks slightly to the canopy on down line. Right rudder knife edge needed left aileron, and left rudder knife needed down ele for mixing, but neither one was severe. When it was time to land, it was very straight forward and no surprises. However, the nose dropped quite a bit after I throttle back to idle.
After re-checking all of the screws, fasteners and extension leads, I took off for a second flight and put the plane through P-07, and was amazed on how well it handle the sequence. Yes, the plane is slightly small by today's standard, thus making it tough to see in the air some time. And the colour scheme wasn't the best either, with the orange colour simply disappeared under the bright sun. I didn't have a chance to check out the 1-1/2 snap, because I didn't have a chance to set up a snap condition. However, it tracks amazingly straight on up lines for the 1/2 clover and stall turn and rolls are very axial and clean for the point rolls.
I'm planning on moving the battery pack back behind the rudder servo to see whether that will eliminate the slight nose heavy problem when the plane is full of fuel. Otherwise, I will probably move the tank closer to the cg point, and will report again in the next few days.
So, what is my first impression on the plane - very impressive, and money well spent. The 140L is a bit overkill and over weight, I believe the Sport or even the older FZ will be more suitable for this plane. However, I believe if you set it up correctly, it will be a very competitive pattern plane. Well done, World Models.

I'll reiterate what Riot3D wrote...
The plane flew very, very well and I'm very impressed!! The rolls were axial and it held lines very well... pull to 45 up line, 1/2 roll - minimal down elevator to hold that 45 upline. For the amount of money that one can buy the plane (Airborne Models) - I think this is an excellent choice for pattern. I'd even say that it would fly the F3A sequence without any problems - as Riot3D says... it is a little tough to see at times due to its color scheme but a few trim pieces strategically placed on the fuse will fix that problem. Plain and simple... it just looked good flying.

Hi Ram,
If I remember correctly, I think the RX is lighter than the YS. Therefore, depending on what eq you're planning to use, you may find the plane slightly tail heavy. However, since the tank is flush against the firewall, and if you mount the battery pack at the cg point, you should be able to balance the plane.
As for overpowering, my 140L definitely is. However, since I do not have any of the older 120 engine, I decided to use the L. I guess, throttle management is the key.
