Yeah, I'm kind of an adrenaline junkie! I test fly a lot of planes for other people, but they have never been this large. I know once she breaks ground that my confidence level will go up.

Thanks for the encouragement!

Fuel incompatability? That comment ought to catch your eye. I have been having a great time with my SU and the 3MM engine has been running like a dream. Until today when it suddenly cut out in the middle of the first flight of the day. I quickly landed and could find nothing wrong, except that I noted that it was difficult to pump the fuel in for some reason. When I got home I discovered that the (provided by WH) plastic tee in the fuel line was mushy and plugged. I am well into my 3rd gallon of gas. Forgive me, but I cannot remember what gas I was using earlier, but the last gallon purchased definately was the 10% alcohol blend that is most popular here in Iowa. That leaves the question ... was it the alcohol that caused the problem, or the plastic not compatable with any gasoline? Since I don't remember what I used earlier (except that I never purchase non-alcohol gas for any of my vehicles), I may have to run a test by soaking the tee in regular gas to see what happens. Anyway, since I had an old brass tee in the shop, I replaced the plastic with that.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I have had trouble keeping fuel tubing in my tanks, on another plane. I am experimenting with K&S tubing now, and so far so good. My Sukhoi has only been test run with the tubing. I don't use T's anymore. I have come to appreciate a 3 line tank.

I hear ya on the 3 line tank, I go the whole nine yards when it comes to the fuel system. 3 line tank with dubro barbs soldered on bothe sides of all 3 lines and then safety wired with .029 stainless wire. no zip ties as I don't want any plastic anywhere. I use the hanger 9 aluminum filter ( wont crack ) .

If there is a 40% plane out there drawing 42 amps it's because it has an on-board welder.

That was the fault of the tee, not the fuel. We bought a supply of Tees that were not of top quality, I also had a fuel line get plugged up by the tee. I apologize, we are using better tees now.

You can get a good one at Home Depot for about $.50, they are in the drip irrigation department.

Yeah, I never thought fuel tanks would be a piece of art, but it probably takes me a couple hours to set up a tank right.

I don't know how many guy's are going to be viewing this today, bit I am trying to finalize everything for my test flight tomorrow. I only have one last concern. I have the A123 battery from Tom, and I have the A123 Racing charger. The battery has a Deans plug and a Hitec/JR plug on it. When I hook the charger up to the Deans plug, I get a blinking "ERROR" lite, a "CHARGED" lite, the "CHARGING" lite is out, and the "ON" lite is lit. It is my understanding that the "ERROR" lite is on because there is no balancing circuit hooked up. I have gone through the entire setup process with this battery pack, so it has been on for hours. I can't believe that the battery is still fully charged. Will the A123 charger not work without a balancing harness hooked up? Is the Hitec/JR connector supposed to be plugged into the balancing harness connection, as it looks like it would fit? Is it just that the battery is truly still fully charged? I hate to plug the Hitec/JR connector in without know that I won't blow up the charger. Some insite here would sure put my mind to rest! We have gone all spring and summer with no more than some minor accidents, at the field. In the last 3 days we have lost 2 helicopters and 5 airplanes, for a total of 7 aircraft. I don't want to be number 8, this week. Thanks again for any help you can give me!

Andy
