All three are good brands, however some people get very passionate about each brand for illogical reasons (kinda like Ford vs, Holden (GM for the rest of the world))

Forgot to add, if you do decide to go with a DL, buy it from DL engines Australia www.dlenginesaustralia.com or Hobbyman in Vistoria. Do not buy it from one of the E-Bay resellers.

FF, The model for the dewalt battery is DC9360 it's a 36v nano Phos Lion. when I got mine they were going for like $89-$99 on E-Bay. I just looked and they are considerably more now @ around $145 buyout. Still a bargain because I don't think you can buy 5 2s1p A123 packs for anywhere close to that price.

Thanks for the info Don! So far I like what I see out of these A123 packs.

I just got back from the field. There should be some video in the next day or two. A buddy of mine is working on it!

I am almost speachless. That plane is a confidence builder! It tracked straight down the runway and gently into the air. The nervousness was gone very quickly. I even got in a little knife edge flight. You will notice in the video, when it gets on here, that the plane reacted very strange in left to right knife edge flight. After my third flight of the day, I realized why. Most of the radio program was copied from the program I use for my Cap. As many of you know, Caps can require a lot of mixes. After copying the program, I erased all the mixes,... or so I thought. Not sure if my right to left kife edge pass was captured or not, but it flew that nearly hands off, so I knew something was amiss, on my end, for going in the opposite direction.

You will also notice that my Brison 52CC didn't seem to have a lot of pull. The engine manufacturer calls out a prop that spins in the 6500-7500RPM range. I thought I could get away with a 23X8, but it was a little too much, only reaching 5800RPM. I had hoped my new props would be here in time for the first flight, but they weren't. When I got home, my package of 22X8 and 22X10 props was sitting on the table. Maybe I can get out tomorrow to try them.

The only real problem I had with the plane was with the black stripes. Even after ironing them down, the clear coating was pealing off of them. I don't think they are Ultacote like the rest of the plane. Seemed more like Chinacote. I can replace them easily, so no biggie. All in all, I am very happy with this new addition to my hangar! Thanks Tom!!!

Andy

The black is Ultracote, but it seems to be from a bad batch or something. We've had trouble on every plane that has black trim.

Hmm! I guess a bad batch even comes from the best of them once in a while. No worry! I made some templates tonight and will remove the old black trim tomorrow. I will then install some new stuff. Really Tom, not a problem! I had a blast today! I am already trying to figure out how to get out of working on the deck and sneaking to the field tomorrow. I guess I better get some honey do's done so I get some time off for good behaviour!

I pulled all my black stripes off, by the time I was done building I had loosened most of them up at least an inch ( Im in a wheelchair so the plane was across my lap quite a bit ) . anyway I decided to personalize it a bit. came out pretty good for my first foray into applying monocote.

Im still planning on Finishing up the graphics with some badbradgraphics.com stuff but they are low on my list of Priorities right now. I plan on having a tear effect across the wings where the checkers meet the yellow but for now I just have some automotive pin striping tape on there.

I was considering some Bad Brad Graphics as well. He is not too far from us, and in fact was at our last swap meet. I just keep looking at the plane and thinking how clean it looks at this point..

haha I just went back and looked at the picture of your daughter? standing over the tail with the engine running. I have a wuss of a friend that swears that the plane is going to pull him into the prop ROFL. So needless to say he wont stand in front of the stabs ... he insists on holding it from behind which kinda scares me.

Go fly tomorrow, tell the old lady your gonna go show the plane to a friend really quick, betcha you can get in a couple of flights and be back in enough time hehe

The weather was bad today!!! No sense trying to get to the field!

Just to give credit where credit is due, that picture with a pretty young girl standing over my plane, that is actually my friends daughter, and a fine RC pilot in her own right. My daughter isn't into the planes . Maybe some day! Anyway, after the run-up, she had pretty good indentations in her legs for a while.
