Hey guys,

Posted this on the engine forum, but I figure the Ucando3d folks might be interested......

I have a friend that has started Extreme RC and will soon have some great ARFs on the market. Anyway, he picked up a YS110 when he was in Hong Kong and we ran it on one of his prototype Extra 300's today.

One tank of fuel was used for break in and then the first flight was ran rich using Morgan 30% pattern blend and an APC 15x6 prop. It tached 10,500 on the bench.

After the first flight, we switched to an APC 16x6 and tached 9,550 prior to the second flight.

After the 3rd flight, we tached again and the YS110 was turning 9,900 RPM.

Again, this was set very rich after the first tank and the needles were never touched.

The airplane weighed 8lbs on the nose, plus 14oz of fuel. The vertical was nothing short of ballistic. Looked like a light weight 40% bird on a well broken in DA150. He was hovering on the deck and when he punched it, there was immediate acceleration with no hesitation, even with the heavy APC blade.

He's returning to China tomorrow to oversee the initial production of his ARF line and was kind enough to bring one back to me.

Would you be able to tell how much stronger the YS110 is compared to YS91AC/FZ?

I wish he ran an APC 14x10 for comparison. I can't find any post for YS 91 rpm with 15x6 or 16x6 and 30%.

If I remember correct, my AC turned 14x10 nearly 10.5K with 30% nitro. It was still rich.
Thanks,

Patternflyer,

My numbers for the 91AC on 30% is 10K +/- 100 for the 15x6 APC.

I had heard that it should run around 500 RPM higher than the 91. based on you reading of 10,000, that sounds correct.

Kevin,
I'm pretty sure I know the Extra 300 prototype you are talking about and I've got my eyes on it. I'll probably be getting one as soon as they are available. What were your impressions of it's flying abilities?

Thanks, Jim
