Quotes from DK: "I just got new grips and read all your input on the HH. The 240 is the best right? " Well, some would say the 401 (I think that's the one) is the best, but you can't use yout stoc transmitter/receiver with that one. The Futaba line seems to be the best for true HH (stability of the electronics), so, the 240 is the best choice for the stock Axe. "Now with adding the HH should I go with the modification instructions on Heli-Max's page?" Yes, most definitely! that is the setup that works (Rcvr to GY240 to tail ESC to Tail motor). "When I enquired about this before at my LHS the rep told me that they had the gyro but not the other electronics but did have alternates. Can someone tell me what parts and/or alternates I can purchase if I choose not to wait for a Tower's delivery? It'll probably be a couple of weeks before I change up but at least I'll have an idea." Somebody suggested to me to use a EVO-20 (??) ESC for the tail rather than the Electrifly C-12. C-12 has a low voltage cut-out, and the EVO just has a led that lights up (see the 'Alternative Axe parts' thread for more info) I have never lost the tail power dur to low volts cut-out, so I stayed with the C-12 (somebody else on th thread can possiblly give you better/more info). ".... sales guy suggested that I cover the whole on my carbon horizontal and tail to ive me some tail spin and frontal diving resistance..." Solid horizontal seems like sound advice. I think I'm gonna look into that one. "Longer tail boom Front balancing to handle tail boom mod Longer main blades (Align) - this allows for better control. Will have to shave and balance the blades so that the end pice will fit in the Axe blade grips." Longer boom sounds interresting too, but did he say how to go about the 'Front Balancing'? I've read a lot lately about not adding weights to the body. Heavier bird stresses motor? shrapnel hazard, etc. Most suggestions envolve pulling the battery our some (some of you other guys jump in here and provide some help/experience). I, still, suggest going with th JCS Flat Plastic Blades for the Axe (heavier than the Balsa, already balanced, Made for Axe, so no trimming, sturdier, flat bottoms should give better lift in 'right-side-up' flight. " It all sounded good but I wasn't convinced." I don't know, but to me, he sounds like he knows what he's talking about!
