No. It's that lone 2x3mm capscrew that screws into the tailshaft through the small hole in the tail boom.

YES...that's the one. Thanks for EVERYONE'S quick response. At least now I know what it is called. And you're right, it DON'T come in the bag-o-screws sold as a screw set. That's what got me into the trouble. The ones in there are too long and went straight thru the wires in the boom. I only hope I didn't short out the motor, too. Currently waiting on replacement wires (they actually cost less than the bag of screws )

Thanks again everyone. I hope to be up again by this weekend, depending on UPS.

Hey Charger let us know what you find out about getting a replacement screw. Hobbico will have to do something about this.

I did come across these screws. They should work, but I haven't tried them yet.

Hey Strat the smallest I've found from Dubro are these. They still may be a bit long though. The easiest thing to do at this point is really just break out the Dremel.

man, I swear that my LHS has some on the wall, I'll stop in there tonight, if they do, I'll buy every package and let you guys know..

if not, there's always the trusty dremel tool to make things right! (make sure you put a nut on the bolt to chase the threads when done)

Douglas4,

I have seen two scheems for using the GY240 for HH on the Axe CP:

1) The Heli-Max way: pull the Yaw plug from the recvr to 3-in-1, pull 3-in-1 to tail, replace subcircuit with recvr to GY240 to Tail ESC replacement (Heli-Max, of course, suggests Electri-Fly C-12) to Tail motor (there are some other important details like power to the new tail ESC, but let this suffice. I have installed this configuration, as per HeliMax instructions, and was well pleased with the results and thier effect upon my learning to actually get the Axe off the ground and back in one piece. So, obviously, this is what I suggest.

2) (modeled of an application of the GY240 on a Blade CP, I think) Unplug the recvr Yaw to 3-in-1, Plug the GT240 signal in into the recvr Yaw position, plug the GY240 signal output into the 3-in-1 Yaw line previously disconnected from the recvr. I have not seen one post on RC Universe, or RunRyder, in which Axe CP drivers are satisfied with this hook-up. Everybody who has tried id has problems that seem to have to do with the 3-in-1's gyro gain. There are warnings about, and at least one report that, this configuration can burn out the 3-in-1 (NOT THE GY240). I do not, myself, understand how the GY240 signal out (Servo Drive) line can supply enough current to actually burn out the 3-in-1, but I ain't about to try or recommend this configuration.

As stated earlier, I highly recommend the HH gyro setup (Heli-Max way), with one WARNING. I got a little too frisky, went Oops-Oops, and had a somewhat hard landing (no big deal, done it a million times, right?) Some how, I managed to wack my GY240 (busted in a gazillion pieces). Don't know how it happened, how I did it (must have been a boom strike), but my 240 is now a pile of dust! It was mounted on top of the block where the tail boom is connected to the pod. Next GY240, I think, will go in the pod frame, where it is protected.

Thanks again everyone. The DURBO ones look right but are too long. The other ones, are the right size but are phillips instead of the hex. I am so newbie that I don't even have a dremmel, YET! If all else fails, I'll go witht he phillips and the locktite! But the last time I was at the LHS I saw a rack of screws and stuff. I bet they have them. Going tomorrow. The bad news is that I got the replacement wires for the rear enging installed, but no turnie of the bladies I checked the motor and it is working when wired directly but when attached to the the board won't. Does that mean the board is bad? I hope I didn't fry it with the screw fiasco. I'll keep ya posted on the screw thing. It's wierd how there's no picture/part number to be found anywhere.

Well, the board was fried, so instead of 86.00 for a new one, I decided to just get a second axe. Spare parts abound! Anyway, got it up and hovering for a while today. Pure bliss, until I panicked and dropped it down hard on the concrete. Bent the boom and broke some part I haven't yet identified as well as the landing skid. Note to self, practice on grass.

I started with the blade cx2. got the axe about a mouth later. the first 5 or 6 times i took it up it didn't last more then a few seconds i went through 6 sets of blade grips. i did mod the training gear i got longer carbon rods from a hobby store and cut them so they were just a little shorter the the blades and got rid of the foam balls went to wal-mart and got
Plastic golf balls. I started flying indoors witch helps alot on wind. About 2 weeks ago i flew for the first time with out the training gear doing good so for haven't crashed yet knock on wood. But i do run lipo batterys. they have a lot more power and the bigger ones i have have some weight to them that helps stabilize it. And the biggest thing of all i read through most of the post on here and i didn't see anyone say anything about making sure the main rotor blades are tracking well. that makes all the difference in the world if there off by just a little the heli will bounce and make it very very difficult to even get it off the ground.

Hey guys I back! I bought new landing gear and decided to take her back up did pretty good but then started drifting and see went down on her side and bent the Feathering Spindle and broke the tail rotor shaft, a $5 fix.

However, when I tried to take her back up again she started having a seizure on me by shaking like crazy. I thought the main shaft was bent but it looks pretty straight and the blades are ok too. Does anyone have a clue on what the heck is going on?

Did you get everything back together in the right order and orientation when you reassembled the head? I don't know enough about the Axe CP to talk specifics, but most of the ones I have, if you get the grip guts backwards it can make the blades stick and shake the heli like crazy. You also may need to adjust the tracking if you didn't put the blades back on the grips thay came off. Just a couple thoughts; there are probably more possibilities <g>.

Ok I'll give it a try.

I am seriously considering the plastic blades. I am killing the woodies. I want to get some CNC parts too. Just not the Heli-Max ones. They are overboard with pricing.

after thinking on repair cost vs actually enjoying my Heli. I'm going to do the HH gyro upgrade. Sounds like this will be the best thing outside of the sim.

question is, how much of a help will it be?
