Thanks guys,

I do not need to make a hole in the cowl because with they way i have my engine mounted, i will be able to have a choke lever coming out of the full sized R/H exhaust. i will bend up an old length of pushrod to suit and paint it black, so you will not see it. I'll be making that in the next few days, and i'll post some pics.

I have decided that being a gasser, i will do the first flights even if the markings are not all down on the model. The major jobs i have left are:

Choke lever
Battery pack installation
final mounting of the struts
CoG

I'll have to buy another R/X because the one i had earmarked for the Fw has ended up in the Stuka. i'll also need to get another 6v R/X battery pack for the same reason. The exhaust that i had changes is still not clearing the cowl, so i'll have to have it welded up again!

Thanks

Dave

Hey Lou,

Here is the arragement i have gone with for the choke lever. the rod is an off cut from a 4-40 rod, and i used some tygon fuel tubing as a bush between the choke lever and the rod because firstly the hole was too big, and secondly, to remove the chance of interferance being produced.

I also completed the final install of the gear legs and locktite'd (threadlocker) everything, can't think of too many other jobs left other than to do the CoG and control throws that will stop her from being ready to fly.

I weighed the 3 bladed prop and spinner versus the 2 blade and spinner and the 3 blade is 100g (3.5oz) heavier! that's pretty significant because it's in the right place. i'll have to run up the s blade prop for the first time and check to see how the engine responds to it. I would rather prefer to at least do the "re-maiden" with the 2 blade and have a relatively known quantity, but i'll decide after the ground runs

Thanks

Dave

I have to post some pics , I have extended my flaps and top sheeting to a more scale look.
Cut out the ribs in my alerons , ordered a IMP canopy , sierra tail wheel and WW2 full bodied pilot , so progress is slow but will post some pics soon

Hey steffan,

I'm back from Madrid, but been kinda busy with work. i am still waiting for the replacement decals from Gary at getstencils...... sounds like he has been in hospital for a stint which is why there has been such a delay. I still haven't heard from him. todd burley passed on the info for me.

I felt compelled to crack her out and try get a little more done after you posted, and i have worked out that she needs around 800g more in the nose to balance out . this was without the muffler, which i haven't picked up from the welders yet again. i had cut it apart again after the first time i had it welded because they didn't quite modify it as i required.

So, i think she is going to have to get a heavy model inspection done .

thanks

dave

a lot of people use PVA applied with a syringe and needle applicator or you can use relief paint from an art store, I like tha paint as it comes in anice tube with a small nozzle and you can get it in silver.

Ahh , wifey came thru big with birthday gifts , Sierra tail wheel , IMP canopy , 1/6 scale german pilot need to go on a diet at 7.2oz lol , I just moved 5.2 ahead of the CG with my wing servo placement I certainly can not allow captain crunch to come in at 7.2 behind the CG , and finally a nice spinner from Skyshark , yep I hit paydirt .Anyone building this plane comtemplating the sierra tail wheel its great and only comes in at 2.2oz , Darrel really knows his stuff !!!!!

Hey Lou,
always nice when you get goodies for your planes instead of a pair of jocks and socks! Mine gets me goodies too. Reminds me I have a joyflight in a P51D to take before it expires! Birthday pressie!

cheers
Peter
